COURTHOUSE/MONROE STREET CLOSURE

There has been much discussion about the closure of Monroe Street. What is to follow is not a comprehesive view of the situation.  This is just a summary with my opinion/viewpoint towards the end.

On one side there is the school of thought that says "Monroe Street should/ must be reopened"   That argument was well stated by Mr. Ted Pappas at the City Council meeting on 2/8/11.  Clink Here for…

Times Union: National teachers union prez uses Obama budget to bash Rick Scott

This really should not come as any surprise to anyone.  The unions don't like anything that looks like a cut that might impact their union members (it sure isn't about the students we can count on that).  I agree with Governor Scott.  The stimulus money has run out and the state doesn't have the money to replace it, so we are going back to the amount spent before stimulus money, and a lack of money isn't the problem with the schools anyway (nor do the unions want the money to improve the…

Times Union: Senate President Mike Haridopolos 'wants to fund' prescription drug database

I am quite sure Governor Scott expected some disagreements over his cuts, so we will wait and see!

Times Union: Florida morning: Marco Rubio takes aim at Fidel Castro, Barack Obama in inaugural legislation

Good information about a bill being introduced by Senator Rubio along with the "sad" news that Senator Nelson is below 50% in the polls (he is in big trouble apparently.....should not come as a surprise to him after he voted in favor of almost every single bill most of us didn't want).  Lots of good information on several happenings in the state of Florida along with the Rubio info.

Times Union: U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio tours Mayport for first time since election

Posted: February 12, 2011 - 12:00am

Marco Rubio was out at Mayport last Friday (info about what he spoke about while there), and he also opened his downtown office.  The address and phone numbers for the office…

Times Union: Sen. Bill Nelson pushes for more financial regulation to lower gas prices

"He wants curbs put on practice he blames for inflating prices."
The main problem I see with this is that Mr. Nelson's approach indicates he thinks government can solve a problem like this (probably, if we checked, we would find some regulation the federal government passed that caused the problem to…

Times Union: Why they don't vote: Behind the opt-out trend in Jacksonville

I am not sure which is worse, people not voting at all or people voting who are totally uninformed and clueless (and far to many are one or the other).

Times Union: JEA drops park plan at new Jacksonville power plant

I can't even begin to tell you how angry I was and still am at reading this article.  I don't know how many of you have seen outrageous increases on your JEA bill, but our increase amounts to almost exactly $100 per month or $1,200 per year at this time over the last little over a year.  They, for that money, are supposed to be providing water and electric services (and all that entails), and they are not supposed to be…

The Blob Blog: National Defense in Jeopardy

Last week I sat through 4 hours of missile defense presentations at Heritage in DC.  Those on the panel were the leading experts on this grave matter.  Grave because we will soon be digging ours.

Not only was I able to sit and listen but I was also asked to be a part of it.  Now what could a 50+ year old woman, wife, mother, grandmother,…

The Hill: Administration rails against GOP plan to block funding for climate regulations

This will do everyone's heart good.  His highness is really angry about the cuts to the EPA as it will stop them from implementing HIS global warming initiatives (that I might add have not been approved by the congress.......).  Boo Hoo.  He had better get used to it, and as far as I am concerned, they didn't go far enough and can defund the whole department and move the few things they do that are worth wild back to the…

How 'The Dirty Dozen' changed our lives (rulings by the Supreme Court)

This is terribly interesting information which we should seriously look at if we are set on returning our country to the founder's vision of a true constitutional republic.  Liberal and activist judges on our supreme court have, over the years, veered way off the mark and have altered our form of government to the point which allows tyrants, like Mr. Obama, to attempt even further erosion of the intent and purpose of our founder's vision of our country and the law of the…

Your Lipstick Stains on the Front Lobe of my Left Side Brains - Will Palin run for President?

by: Trent Derr - Morning in America

Hey Soul Sister

“What’s the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull? Lipstick!” And with that shot over the bow at the Republican National Convention, Sarah Palin announced her arrival on to the national political stage. From her position as a relatively…

Tea Party Candidates for 2012

Have you been feeling discouraged by what is or is not happening in DC?  So many candidates are beginning to prepare for the 2012 elections.  The Tea Party needs to start identifying potential candidates for the house and senate to replace what we have there now.  Every representative and senator in DC must know that they too can be replaced.  "They" seen to think we are a flash in the pan and will disengage now that the 2010 election is over.  Surprise!!

If the way I feel is…

List of our representatives who voted to EXTEND sections of the Patriot Act that are set to expire

Here is a list of those Florida representatives who voted to extend the sections of the Patriot Act that are set to expire.  Shame on them, and where is the constitutional justification the republicans said they would include on every bill they voted on?????  I have already written to Crenshaw and may be time for others to either write or call.…

Our Sputter and Nicked Up Moment - Commentary on the State of the Union

by: Trent Derr - Morning in America

I swore I heard that right.  Did the President say this is our “Sputter and Nicked Up” moment?  Was this the first time that he decided to finally come clean with the American people?   I thought to myself, well at least he was being honest in his State of the Union speech.  He’s finally breaking it to everyone that after his first…

Pensions and the Florida State Retirement System

Why is it the only changes everybody are talking about are for the police, fire , teachers, and state and county "employees". Why haven't the judges and politicans been included in the mix, they are also in the FSRS, but their deal is sweeter, because it's my understanding, politcians only have to work 8 years to be elgible, and judges have a 4% multiplier. It might also be noted politicians and other elected officials such as city council and county commissioners are actually part-time…

The Loft: Ok Class, Now It's Time for Our Lesson... in Arabic

By Bobby Eberle

A very well thought out commentary by Dr. Bobby Erbele from GOP USA about the current plan to implement an Arabic culture and language program at a Texas school via the use of a 1.3 million dollar grant provided by the taxpayers via the federal government.  Seems like a large waste of our tax dollars at a time when we are hard pressed to pay the bills we already owe, and smacks…

$1.3 MILLION DOLLARS OF OUR MONEY TEACHING ARABIC IN SCHOOLS

WARNING:  Bad language by ticked off tea party member

I am mad as hell and can’t think of another way to say this.  I am mad as hell!  (That's the bad language)

Do you think it is right or appropriate to send OUR Federal dollars to a Texas middle and elementary school to teach children Arabic?

Read this carefully and then contact your Representative and Senators (go to…

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
