Gun Control Again

A mass shooting occurred at Ft. Hood in Texas.  We will have more “gun control” speeches by politicians who pretend the 2^nd Amendment doesn’t exist.  Eliminating assault weapons and limiting the size of ammunition clips won’t stop these murders.

The real solutions are keeping guns away from mental patients, criminals, and terrorists.  Since these are impossible, the only solution is self defense.

Until we get mental records included in background checks, this will continue.  If these records are included in background checks, nobody will go for help knowing they will be barred from owning a gun.

Criminals can get guns - through sources that don’t do background checks.  Until we can track the source of a weapon used by a criminal, gun crimes will continue.

Terrorists can get guns because background checks don’t identify terrorists.

Economist John Lott discovered that "every public shooting since 1950 in the U.S. in which more than three people have been killed has taken place where citizens are not allowed to carry guns."   Military establishments, like Ft. Hood and the Navy Yard, are “gun free”.  Murderers pick places where their victims will be unarmed.

The only viable solution is to allow us to protect ourselves.

Stephen, you shake your head and I drop my jaw.  Our country is in so much trouble in so many ways and angles.

I still shake my head in complete disgust that soldiers on a military base were unable to defend themselves in such a situation. The lunacy of political correctness once again at play here where it it is not considered safe or "acceptable" to allow trained soldiers to actually shoulder arms. It is a deadly slap in the face to the concept of 'citizen soldier.'
