As a teenager, my radio was my favorite get away and I would spend hours in my room at night listening to music as I did my homework.

The teen years are looked upon fondly but they are also usually filled with deep hurts caused by those who called you friend.  Teenage friends could be cruel if there was any chance they might be hurt or embarrassed by something going on in your life.  When the cruelty set in, an escape to my radio was in order since we didn’t have iPads or iPhones back then.

As I read the headlines this morning, I was taken back to my teenage room with the aqua blue radio sitting on the headboard shelf.  Joe South singing “The Games People Play” could be heard on WAPE.

“The games people play now – every night and every day now – never meaning what they say now – never saying what they mean”

Back then I would think about a friend who might have hurt me but today I am thinking about politicians who are hurting us and our future.

In yesterday’s Red State article by Erik Erickson Now we see it all...Mitch McConnell's Pontius Pilate Act is a cover..., he states, “Well, well, well. As Monday’s news cycle gets into full gear, we’re starting to see exactly what Mitch McConnell, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi are cooking up for the American public — pretend spending cuts and very real tax increases.”

Reading his article sent a chill down my spine and a nauseous feeling in my stomach.  How could they do this to us?  How could those we thought cared about getting us out of debt, reducing out of control spending and balancing the country’s budget play games with the American soul?  How? How? How?

“While they while away the hours in their ivory towers”

Have they forgotten that America is on the cusp of dying as a nation?  Will we one day have a funeral for the greatest nation in the world?

‘til they are covered up with flowers in the back of a black limousine”

As politicians sit in their ivory towers in the DC bubble, they evidently did not take into account the welfare of the people and how their games affect us.

“Look around tell me what you see.  What’s a happening to you and me?”

They look at unemployment numbers on a chart and fail to see the real people behind them.  They look at the Debt Clock and can’t see the precious faces of the millions of children who will have to pay it off for generations to come – changing the face of our nation forever.

 “Turn your back on humanity.”

They talk about the crisis looming yet continue to play political games with the people in order to keep their cushy seats in DC.

“The other was to blame…Neither one will ever give in…

And as I sit here this morning remembering my teenage years, I wonder what the future holds for me and my family.

“Thinking about the things that might have been, it’s a dirty rotten shame”

So what do we do if politicians play games with our lives and the soul of America?  The only thing we can do.  Vote them out as quickly as we can and replace them with those who have an American heart.

“God grant me the serenity to remember who I am.”

Remember the gift our founding fathers gave us…the gift of the Republic.  They said it was ours as long as we could keep it.  To keep it means that everyone who loves our country and wants it to remain free, MUST do their part.  There is no way you can sit on the sidelines for times such as these.  The teenagers are in charge in DC and we need to replace them with adults!

So what to do?  You and your friends can join us tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 20th at 6:00 PM at Angie’s Subs on Beach Blvd. (see all the information here: The Poll Project Event).  We have three special guests who will talk about Getting Out the Vote, Online Activism and Ensuring the Polls are Pure in 2012.   All you have to do is listen and then decide if and how you want to get involved.

“Come on, get on board.”

Joshua, you are right on!!!! and Billie, you hit the nail right on the head with Joe South's 1969 hit.  There are many times when today's goings on bring a line or two from a 60's or 70's song or two to mind along with a few Bible verses.  These are very cynical and perilous times in which we live, but we must keep up our faith and efforts for 1 + God = Victory.

"The Games Children Play"  will not be the featured song at Angie's tomorrow night during the Beaches TParty meetup.  We will be taking a Positive - Proactive look at what really counts in the battle for men's souls at the ballot box.  Of course the most successful method to do that is to become a member of the REC(Republican Executive Committee) .  I and eleven others did so last night at their meeting.  There is only one more meeting that will ensure you can be one and that one is the next one.   There is no more powerful weapon in changing or enlisting the souls and  votes of newly discovered patriots who are informed properly to elect conservative candidates in the coming elevtions.   We all have to be proactive,  bit the bullet and start what really counts - electing real hard core conservatives who will save this city,  county, state and nation.   Nothing else counts.

We talk about politicians as if they are special type of people.  They are no different than the rest of us.  They need to be judged by the quality of their character, and their words measured against their actions determine their character.  For too long we have been electing people by looking at the superficial, ie the way they look, the color of their skin, how presidential they look, rather than their character.  Things will never change until we get below the surface.

This is a fantastic blog.  Billie, you can really write.  I'd forgotten what a great song that was.  As usual, Josh Warren is right on the money as well.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
