Shark Tank: Rubio Sides Against Bachmann, Rooney Regarding Huma Abedin’s Possible Ties to Terrorism

I do not see this as a good thing, but Mr. Rubio has voted "yes" on a few very undesirable things as well.  So it would appear he may not be quite as conservative as professed.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s recent letter to the Department of State expressing her concerns about the possible infiltration of radical Islam throughout the federal government has received pushback from moderate Republican senators John McCain and Scott Brown.

McCain called Bachmann’s letter “scurrilous” and full of “sinister accusations,” and categorized the questioned raised about Hillary Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin as “nothing less than an unwarranted and unfounded attack on an honorable citizen, a dedicated American and a loyal public servant.”  You can read Bachmann’s letter here.  Predictably, the Palm Beach Post is raising the specter of “McCarthyite tactics”... 

Perhaps somewhat more surprisingly, Senator Marco Rubio has waded into this controversy and has sided with his Senate colleagues against Bachmann and Florida Congressman Tom Rooney, who has also signed Bachmann’s letter.  Senator Rubio responded to the Shark Tank’s request for further comment by stating, “I stand by my statements.”

Question- would Rubio be taking a similar position if Abedin was Cuban and had family members with close ties to the Communist regime of Fidel Castro?

Rubio, who sits on the ‘temporary’ Select Committee on Intelligence, said the following in regards to the matter-

“Everyone I talk to who has dealt with her, [says she is] a professional and hardworking and patriotic American who loves her country and in the service of her country is serving it.”

“I am not a signatory to that letter,” Rubio said of Bachmann’s letters to the inspectors general of several national security agencies demanding investigations. “I don’t share the feelings that are in that letter. Obviously, every member of Congress has a right to express their opinion and every member of Congress is held accountable for their opinion, if they’re right or if they’re wrong.”

“I can tell you that I don’t share the feelings that are in that letter,” he continued, “And in fact, I’m very very careful and cautious about ever making accusations like that about anyone.”-Senator Marco Rubio (Salon)

While Salon is no doubt spinning Rubio’s reaction being a condemnation of Bachmann, what is perplexing is why Rubio appears to be so risk-adverse and hesitant to ask some common-sense national security questions in this matter.  After reading the letter, there is nothing wrong with the questions Bachmann and her colleagues have raised, regardless of whether they’re perceived as inconvenient questions by Democrats.  We are not sure if Rubio read the whole letter or was impulsively reacting to a snippet of information that he may have been briefed on by one of his aides, but Bachmann’s questions are valid ones and should not be dismissed out of hand.

Oh my, Dr. Fakoury had the nerve to hold fundraisers for BOTH parties and be involved in her community... As the saying goes, "what was she thinking".   

There seems to be the desire to condem and accuse anyone who doesn't think like "they" do, look like they do or refuses to fall in line without any debate.  Attacking and throwing personal insults and degrading another human being serves no positive purpose. 

I support many things the TP promotes, but I am starting to wonder (my opinion only) if it is being consumed by a small group that cares not what the result of the words and actions may be and may be on a course to overthrow the elections for their own sense of power... 

Also, there is a small group here which continues to post "news" and "fact" and I keep finding if you search back against the blog that the data is not substantiated...  It is interesting.

Funny thing, Amanda... The TP promotes 'freedom' but it would most likely enjoy being able to silence anyone who disagrees...

What Mrs. Hall referenceing is the "guilt by association" of Dr. Manal Fakoury. Dr Fakoury, with whom I have had the pleasure of knowing was slimed by ACT, an anti-Muslim group, er, US security group. Dr. Fakoury's crime has been to hold political fundraisers in her home for politicians of both parties, from Senator Nelson to Governor Rick Scott. She is also deeply involved in her community, an obvious tactic designed to lead to the Islamification of Ocala, then Marion county and finally Florida.

And since there is no actual evidence that this woman is anything but the best of ehat we hope for from each of us, ACT has been left to slime her with guilt by association to Ahmed Bedier. Who also has never been convicted of anything other than being Muslim and giving voice to the issues of Muslims and Palestinians in particular.

 Peggy, speculation is the contemplation or consideration of a subject and since there is no fact presented it is speculation... to be considered.  Time will tell, but guilt by association is not usually enough to convince me without substantiated fact.   I refuse to accept what is put out by "various media outlets" without question, of course that angers some.  

As far as Rubio, you don't know what I think of him, but you can share you opinion.

I do not know Amanda, nor who she is "connected to", but your language sounds hateful.

Amanda when are you ever going to just give it up?  Speculating Lizzy?   It appears there is PROOF that Huma is connected through family to the muslim brotherhood.  Is that proof doctored, like other important documents have been recently?  I don't know.  I can only go by what is put forth in various media outlets.  I would much rather prefer to err on the side of caution.  Rubio is not what you think he is.  He is no conservative.  Amanda Choate is also connected to the muslims and her muslim buddy in the Ocala area as well as OWS.  Another useful idiot.

As I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I agree with you Lizzie.  Her questions should be considered as Javier also indicated.

Of course I do not speak for him, but perhaps Sen. Rubio chooses not to accept the premise of "guilt by association" which the Bachmann letter could be interpreted as in this case?  

Ms. Bachmann has the freedom to make her accusations and ask her questions.  Likewise, Sen Rubio has his freedom to disagree or agree and make a stand on that decision.   Cong. Bachmann is speculating about the individual but her questions should be considered, but to me it seems a bit desperate.  And it saddens me, as I once thought she was a decent candidate.
