Red Rover, Red Rover -- Send the Feds Right Over

As a kid, we loved to play Red Rover during recess.  The object of the game was to have two teams – with approximately 10 per team.  The teams would face each other about 30 feet apart.  Both teams would be holding hands with the 10 on their team.

The game went like this:

  • Team A would scream out:  Red rover, red rover, send “name” right over
  • Name would run as fast as she could to the opposing team and would try to break through their linked arms.
  • If she broke thru, she was able to choose a person to go back to her side and be on her team.
  • If she didn’t break thru, she had to join the team who called her over.
  • The game ended when only 1 person was standing on one team

The game has been outlawed on many school yards now due to possible injuries that might be sustained by the children running into the outstretched human link of arms.  This is ridiculous but it is a great indicator of where we are today in our culture.

Yesterday when Governor Scott gave back to the Feds OUR money earmarked for High Speed Rail, I heard Red Rover go off in my head.  (Call me crazy!)

I imagined Governor Scott standing on the same team with Governor Christie from New Jersey, Governor Walker of Wisconsin, Governor Brewer of Arizona, Governor Perry of Texas and many other Governors too.

I saw them holding hands tightly and screaming to the opposing team – Red Rover, Red Rover send the EPA right over.  Red Rover, Red Rover send High Speed right over.  Red Rover, Red Rover send the lobbyists right over.  Red Rover, Red Rover send the Union bosses right over.

I just love that “song” in my head and I hope you will play it all day long as you realize how important our States Rights are as well as the importance of having strong leaders in the Governor’s office.   The Federal government has not just overstepped their boundaries, they are taking what they want and they do not care about of desires or our votes as Floridians, Texans, etc.

Our founding fathers had deep concerns about a federal government out of control.  They warned us about it and many times in our past we have fought the feds back into their Washington hideouts.  It’s time again to do the same thing and these great Governors are doing all they can to whip them back into shape.

Here are a few quotes from our founding fathers which might shed some light on their fears:

"But ambitious encroachments of the federal government, on the authority of the State government, would not excite the opposition of a single State, or of a few States only.  They would be signals of general alarm...But what degree of madness could ever drive the federal government to such an extremity."  -- James Madison

“I consider the foundation of the (Federal) Constitution as laid on this ground: That "all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States or to the people." [10th Amendment] To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specifically drawn around the powers of Congress is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition." –  Thomas Jefferson, "Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank" [February 15, 1791]

In 1794, when Congress appropriated $15,000 for relief of French refugees who fled from insurrection in San Domingo to Baltimore and Philadelphia, James Madison stood on the floor of the House to object saying, "I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents." -- James Madison, 4 Annals of congress 179 (1794)

The 10th Amendment states: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”  Keep this in mind as these Governors stand together and play Red Rover with our Federal government.

We applaud these great Governors and their courage to meet the Feds at the State lines and tell them to turn around and go back to DC…we don’t need your kind here.

As I looked for something to end this blog, I tried to find a Red Rover video to take you back to the days of old.  I found many and but this one caught my eye.  I was stunned to find it.  I had never seen it before.

This video was produced for Obama’s campaign.  It has a nice feel, renders sweet thoughts and emotions AND yet – President Obama has not found a way to join us all together as this video projects.  Instead he wants to push his agenda down the throats of the American people.  He did it with healthcare and his budget this week of more spending and more debt does not meet up with this message.

We suggest President Obama replay this campaign video and learn something from the child actor here.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGrjJYzbekg&feature=related

The race of the children in the video is obviously a statement by the Oboma campain acussing conservatives of being racist yet it always seems to be the left that plays that card. Nelson , Mica and Brown have all came out against Gov. Scott why haven't Rubio, Crenshaw, West or any of the others came out to support the Govenor in his battle to save the state from Nelson and Mica and their back room dealings with lawyers and special groups that this will profit. This rail will not benefit the average Floridian. I ask you where did the federal funds for this dead horse come from and what meaningful program took a hit so these jokers could waste that money. We have no room for wasteful spending, when will Nelson, Mica and Brown get that through those thick skulls.

Apparently the state legislature is none too pleased.  they sent a letter to the fed asking for the money and explaining that the guv can't turn down the money because this was legislation passed before he came into office.  oh boy.  let the infighting begin.

Dear Senator Nelson & Rep. Mica,

Please do not continue the pursuit of High Speed Rail as it's just more Government intrusion and expense in our lives as Floridians.

If this is truley of great economic benefit then get private contractors to develop the rail system and let them reap the profits as they will reinvest back into our local eceonmy. I assume most or all will not, as it is not a profiable venture but a costly one. Get Disney to step up to the plate.

Listen, the citizens are speaking!

With respect,

Joseph D. Merkley

I'm just curious how much money has already been spent on the project from the state of Florida?  Does anyone have this information?  Also, has anyone heard what the reaction is from the state legislature since they passed the high speed rail legislation in 2009?

Governor Scott has saved Florida a fortune. I am so glad Rick is our governor!!! Besides, "We The People" choose to remain free to ride in our own automobiles under our own power! The whole idea doesn't make any sense: Orlando to Jacksonville is entirely different than traveling from Boston to New York and Washington.

Billy, You are doing one Hell of a good job.  Keep the people informed so we can write to Bill Nelson and every other member of our federal government who is attempting to over ride our state.  Let them get their house in order before they tell the governor how to run his state.  We elected him, we need to back him.  Get your letters off to Bill Nelson NOW!!!

Oh wow I didn't notice that! And the little kid who puts his hand out looks like a little Obama lol!

Take a look at the video carefully.  The children dressed in blue are mixed races.  The children in red are all white.  Is that a sublimnal message?

When I heard yesterday that Bill Nelson and John Mica were in cahoots with lawyers to try to find a loophole to force the high-speed rail on Florida anyway, it felt like war had been declared on us. This is a test of not only our governor but all conservatives in Florida who are opposed to this wasteful spending. This is a watershed moment.  Keep those backbones strong, gang!

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
