"Providence has favored our undertakings"

"In politics, as with evangelism, God simply calls us to be faithful to the message and the task. The results are in His providential hands.  When history is behind us, we rest in His sovereign plan.  We do our best to promote the virtuous and expose evil and deception.  We work hard to elect the most principled candidates.  We steward our citizenship by educating ourselves and others and voting with the best possible information we can find.  But once we have discharged our responsibility, we can be satisfied and feel God’s pleasure in the fact that we were simply faithful.

We should sense God’s highest satisfaction in knowing that we were merely faithful to do our part-- irrespective of the outcome.

This understanding aligns us with an eternal perspective.  It protects us from burn out and it gives us greater endurance and resilience.  Most importantly it postures us to humble ourselves before the Creator of history itself to recognize that we can only see in part and know in part and that ultimately His ways are higher, deeper and wiser than our ways.

My favorite historical place to visit in Washington, D.C. is the Arlington National Cemetery.  To walk quietly at the feet of over a quarter of a million gravestones representing American soldiers from the Civil War to Iraq can be a profound experience.  Looking across what appears to be an endless sea of mostly young men and women, who have died so that I might live with freedom, is a sobering if not a completely transforming experience.  Suddenly, everything comes into perspective.  In that moment, I recommit myself with greater tenacity and courage to what I am called to do and realize that any disappointment or discouragement I have experienced is merely light and momentary compared to those who have paid the ultimate price.

“We do nothing. God does everything.  All glory must be returned to Him.  God has not called me to be successful.  He called me to be faithful."  Would that we could all have this same steady and eternal perspective when we face the wins and losses of life." MT

I don't know who MT is or the route this took to my inbox but I find that it mirrors my own thoughts to a great degree.

However, I fear what is in store for our nation when clearly the majority of the electorate and the leaders selected are challenging God. Their platform, the executive orders issued, and the more than 26 enforcement czars already anointed by the man who would be King represent an attempt to destroy the framework of the American political system by circumventing the limitations on the executive powers under the Constitution.

They should beware for the Spirit of America cannot be bought or suppressed for no man can tell another what to think or what to believe.

The conflagration of the ensuing events is in the Hand of God! My prayer is that He will bless the remnant of His people as He did the founding fathers of our nation.  I pray that we will teach our children about the principles and the character of a society based on a Christian foundation.

President Kennedy, quoting Dante, once said that the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in a period of moral crisis maintain their neutrality. We are in the greatest crisis the nation has ever faced.

The future of America hangs in the balance and it shall come about, if we will not obey the Lord our God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which He has charged us with, that a multitude of curses shall come upon us and overtake our nation.

This is as it should be, for our Nation is founded on the principle that observance of God’s law is the eternal safeguard of liberty and defiance of the law is the surest road to destruction and tyranny.

America is and always has been one nation under God for the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God, by His Grace alone.

We can have faith in the future only if we humble ourselves before God and ask for His forgiveness.

No Joe you have no evidence to say that God punishes nations that turn their backs on him. Nor is there any proof that nations who follow him are blessed.

MT is wrong. God does nothing we do everything, it is free will. If God did everything then there would be no judgement, we were merely doing God's will, fulfilling his plan. That is quackery. It says that no where in the bible.

America has not been forever a nation where the rights of man were recognized univerally. Are you crazy? Slavery? Native Americans? Women? People of color? The poor? Children?

You are mad if you think that somehow in looking back that is when America was the land of the free. Saying it is God's will just lets us off the hook for doing a terrible job.

Patricia the lack of a Godly education was the number one concern of some of our founding fathers. They wondered if we could survive as a nation if we did not provide a means to teach our children about our Godly heritage.

We have certainly reached the point where those concerns were justified. They would be shocked to see all of the educational institutions both public and private that have turned their backs on God. The number one among them being Harvard University.. Check out its foundational doctrine to raise Godly men as leaders for our country....and look at where they are at today!

Amanda, God uses people and nations to accomplish what he desires. That gives you two options on Obama. 1. Once again He will show the world what happens when a nation and its people turn their back on Him. The ultimate judgment for wrongful behavior is death or total destruction.   2. To show the world what happens when people and nations humble themselves and seek His forgiveness, how Godly people can be blessed when they follow Gods commands. I like to think there are a lot of Godly people left in America who are praying for our country, sometimes I wonder? Either way God will reign and do as He pleases with us.

Sadly Joe, the public school system has twisted minds and made many folks in our society look to the government for their very being.  The rest are appalled and feel blindsided by the total lack of any concern about where this current group will take our country.  God didn't elect Obama Amanda and you very well know that, people who have turned their back on God and towards the false prophet, Obama, did that!  God was removed from the school system and much else long before today, and we are now paying the price for it.  Or as Pragda said a group of very ignorant people re-elected Obama.

Well then ask God why he elected Obama.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
