LIBYAN POLICY: FROM THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION

Yesterday the First Coast Tea Party along with the Navy League had lunch together to hear from Peter Brookes of Heritage.  James Carafano had planned to be with him to give us a National Security Briefing.  We planned this event months ago and had no idea that Libya would be under fire on the same day as our event. 

 

Peter gave a great summary of the world powers and how we compare to them in regards to leadership, weapons and strategy.  All of us walked away with more knowledge than before.  We also wanted to go home and batten down the hatches!

 

While Peter was giving his speech, Dr. Carafano stayed in DC to help craft Heritage’s policy on Libya.  We wanted to share that with you and hope you will post the information on Facebook and Twitter.  You can find it at:

Would you like to study the Constitution?

 

Many of you may not be aware that there are "Life Group" classes on Wednesday nights at Hibernia Baptist Church on Fleming Island.  These classes meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and currently include a wide diversity of interests such as:
Quilting, Weight Loss, Coaching (all sports), The Truth Project, and Evangelism, just to name a few.

 

I have had a request to teach a class on the U.S. Constitution and I wanted to measure how much interest there would be on this topic.  It would involve teaching the original document of 1787 plus all of its amendments (and perhaps a few that failed).

 

The classes would include insights into the original intentions of the Founding Fathers, how it has been attacked  through amendments and "interpretations" by judges schooled in the "progressive" political movement of the early 20th century.

 

We would take the Constitution article by article, amendment by amendment, and look at the major court decisions that have interpreted - andmisinterpreted - the document over the centuries.

I would anticipate combining lectures with audience involvement through discussions and independent reports on issues relevant to the Constitution throughout the "semester." There is also the possibility of outside experts who might volunteer to speak on a specific topic - from a Christian perspective, of course.

MY QUESTION FOR YOU IS SIMPLY THIS:

Do you have a serious interest in attending this class on Wednesday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hibernia Baptist Church at a future date to be announced soon?

A simple reply of "YES" or "NO" would help me gauge the amount of interest in scheduling this class.

Great Foundation, i just received my pocket "The Declaration Of Independence and The Constitution Of The United States"

 

They are a great source for facts, truth and information. I wonder if this Libya mess isn't a diversion to cutting the 2011 budget that the 111th Congress failed to pass in September 2010?
