DNC Platform: We Want World Class Education. Translation: More Union Money & Power

05 September 2012

By Bill Korach www.thereportcard.org The Democratic Party has long made the assertion that they are the party of education and teachers. It is a part of their long-standing claim that they are the party that “cares,” and even the party that owns the moral high ground. However, there is ample proof that the Democratic [...]

Amanda, Yes I do, and why don't you compare apples to apples? Compare the salary of the Union bosses like Trumpka or Hoffa to the average CEO... not a line worker to a CEO.
Public schools are failing their students in Jacksonville/Duval County and throughout much of Florida and many other states - it is why the unions and the Democrats fight against accountability and charter schools.
Democrats are pro-choice when it comes to abortion, but NOT pro-choice when it comes to a child's education and charter schools.
Unions are destroying this country... more cities and counties will declare bankruptcy to get out from under the stranglehold of the unions.

The point of the story is that the Democrats always stand up for union demands. And teachers unions have fought reform and accountability since they were started in 1979. Florida is trying to move away from union dominance. I give them points for that.

Lizzie, do you know what a starting UAW worker makes?

$14.00 an hour, maxes out at around $28.00 an hour

That is $29,120 to about $58,500 a year. The average of that income versus S&P 500 CEO average pay gives you a ratio of 288:1. in 1980 the average CEO pay compared to blue collar workers was about 30:1.

Teachers, people who have college degrees, average in Florida, about $37,000 annually. Not exactly killing it. And so you know, "Race to the Top" actually provides avenues for districts to replace teachers who are underperforming. Failure to do so results in loss of funding. Of course teachers unions sought a better deal, but it didn't happen. That is how Florida was able to get access to $700,000,000 which they are in danger of losing because the state's chancellor of K-12 education keeps missing deadlines. Now a judge a stricken part of the law which proably doom it forever.

The DNC, Democratic Party and the current administration is ALL about saving unions, all unions and the teachers union is one of the worst!  Their convention last night boasted they "saved the auto industry"... NO, they saved the United Auto Workers union..

We need more leaders like Christie and Walker who will stand up to unions and say "sorry, piggy bank is empty".

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
