Chris Quackenbush from Stop Common Core wrote this. www.stopcommoncorefl.com

"Far from being discouraged, the group gathered to talk about their next moves, and resolved never to allow Corporate Cronies who have greased the skids to sell our kids for their quest for money and power. They may have the money, but we have the truth and we will never sell our children out to the progressives who want a compliant citizenry called “Human Capital.”
" We must redouble our efforts against this tyrannical child abuse called Common Core.

Contact the Governor: 850) 488-7146 http://www.flgov.com/contact-gov-scott/email-the-governor/ and tell him we will never stop and we will never vote for anyone who supports mainlining our kids with government propaganda.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

An outstanding article that arrived in my email this morning published in the Sunshine State News:

http://www.sunshinestatenews.com/story/how-much-trouble-will-common...

Very informative information below from Bill Korach, one of our own and creator of THE REPORT CARD

By Bill Korach www.thereportcard.org
Yesterday, parents of students from across the state met at the Florida Board of Education meeting in Orlando to protest adoption of Common Core Standards. According to the Miami Herald, about 100 parents met at an unusually heated meeting to protest and speak using the allotted 3 minutes per speaker. Suzette Lopez told The Report Card: “Chairman Gary Chartrand reduced speaking time from 3 minutes to 2 minutes when he realized that 80 speaking request cards had been filled out.” Ms. Lopez, a mother of 2 children in the Miami Dade school system said this last minute reduction in speaking time was awkward for parents who had prepared speeches based upon 3 minutes. Ms. Lopez said: “Gary Chartrand was antagonistic from the start of the 4 hour meeting.”
The Miami Herald said: “Stewart (Florida Commissioner of Education) proposed a series of tweaks and clarifications, along with new calculus benchmarks and a requirement that students master cursive writing. She also gave the revised benchmarks a new name: the Florida Standards.”
Ms. Lopez said: “The outcome of the decision to tweak the standards and change the name from ‘Common Core Standards’ to ‘The Florida Standards’ was never in doubt. All the Board did was to perfume the pig”
Ms. Lopez offered these remarks to the Florida Board of Education:
Before I ever spoke out against these standards, I spent months researching to understand the full scope of the issues related to Common Core. We were always told that parental involvement was key to the success of our children. I have learned the hard way what that really means. Parental involvement means working to raise funds for the PTA or helping out at a school, in a classroom. If you cross that line and actually start advocating for what is right and questioning, then parental involvement is then viewed as radical, concerning behavior.
I listen in to conference calls from the Board. I watch senate and house meeting. I read a lot, I listened a lot. The more I listened, the more concerned I got. I just could not reconcile how a group of people that are supposed to have the best interest of my children, that are supposed to listen to the people they represent, were time and time again saying things that showed they were not listening to our concerns. We blindly accepted to adopt these untested standards and assessments under the guise that they are rigorous and will produce career and college ready students. None of which has been proven to be true. I say blindly accepted because in Nov of 2009, we signed on the RTTT Memorandum of Understanding agreement that in it called for us to adopt Common Core by August of 2010. Again, the standards were in the process of being written. During a recent RTTT conference call on Oct 30th, the day before the open commenting period ended, I heard Ms. Tappen say “We are moving forward with the new more rigorous standards. So, if anyone is hesitating or worried about next year, the time line has not changed.” I thought the opening commenting period was a time to stop and reflect and reassess. These are just 2 examples. That is just unacceptable.
Fuzzy math has taken precedent over concrete math. Process has taken over correct answers. Writing argumentative statements has taken precedence over reading literature or creative writing.
We are in what is referred to as a “blended” year with Common Core and already I am seeing a change in my children. This mom doesn’t think her children are brilliant, she knows they are brilliant, in so many ways. I understand that school is now being set up so that my children cannot reach their full potential. I know, that is a very sad statement, but it is true. I know because I can’t even trust my child’s grades anymore. I know because we now live in a world where you can get credit for 2+2=5 as long as you show your work and your work shows that you understand the process. I know because I have a child that is gifted in math and can easily do the answers in his head. A child who will bring home Fs on tests when he got all the answers right, but did not show his work. It is a sad day when a child is not rewarded for that kind of gift, but instead punished.
You ask us to trust you, but you have not earned that trust. The only reason I can see for erasing the name Common Core State Standards from law is because you agree we need a pause. You agree that we need to understand these standards and all that it brings before we implement. There is still time to earn our trust back. Please stop and take a deep breath and stop common core. Our innovative, creative, funny, motivated, beautiful children deserve nothing less.
Ms. Lopez is a child of Cuban emigrants who fled to America to escape Communism under Castro. She valued the education she received as a child, but she fears that the Common Core will change all of that:
“Now that I am older and have children, my greatest gift I can give to them is the gift of a well-rounded education: The gift of knowledge. The gift of faith and understanding what it is that God wanted for us. Every day I entrust my children’s school to help educate my children. To challenge them and teach them why this nation is so great through great literature, scientific innovation, among many other things.
After much research, I have concluded that Common Core does too much to force all children to move at the same pace, at the same time. My two children are different, each with special gifts and talents and intellect. Common Core does little to promote that uniqueness and to instill a love of learning that is so important to their future success. Deeper research into Common Core reveals an adoption process that was unethical. Funding was the primary driver; my children’s best interest was not.”
Ms. Lopez specific concerns about Common Core are substantive and significant:
“ I have so many concerns about Common Core I hardly know where to start. First, I think that private personal student data will be shared with governmental agencies and could be harmful for my children down the road. One of my children is special needs and the school district said that if I allowed my child’s information to be shared, the school would be given money to help special needs children. I refused because I feared that that information might harm my child someday. Second, the language arts standards are harmful to literature, and teach historical documents out of context, so students don’t understand the meaning of the material they are reading. There is not enough reading, so students are deprived of great literature. The math standards are strange and convoluted. Students are required to show their work and are discouraged from solving arithmetic in their heads. The work they have to show is a multi-step process that has caused stress and confusion wherever it is taught.
Common Core disrespects special needs children and forces them to learn things that are beyond their abilities. It’s like expecting a person without legs to run a marathon.”

Did any of the 78 speakers support Common Core? Ms. Lopez said: “Only 2 people spoke for it and one was an employee of former Governor Jeb Bush, a Common Core supporter.”

The State Board of Education voted to accept the name change of Common Core, but for the most part, retained the standards. “It was a predetermined outcome,” says Ms. Lopez.

Once again, thank you for your support in this effort. We must keep the pressure on as this is a battle that we cannot afford to lose.

God Bless You and may GOD BLESS OUR AMERICA.

The State of Florida needs people in office who have Integrity and the desire to understand the intended purpose of any proposal! Common Core is a foot-in-the-door for future abrogation of liberty and the institutionalizing of indoctrination! Politicians tend to be foolish myrmidons that only consider their own future and not the future of those they supposedly represent.

Self aggrandizement and corruption are rampant in politics today! A Socialist Program as Common Core or the current MarxCare (destruction of health care) would never have received much support years ago!

But since we cannot force people to have Honor and Integrity, we have to be willing to seek out those who have it and Just Say No! My children are adults, but I would never have let them be controlled by Common Core!

In Nazi Germany, parents & the educated held their voices, covered their eyes, & closed their ears to the things they didn't want to acknowledge, but when the Nazis came for their children, it was too late!

Common Core is a Fascist intrusion into public education and as Lenin said ‘Fascism is Capitalism in Decline’! The next step is Communism and the end of Freedom! All forms of Collectivism have as the ultimate GOAL; Eliminate Individualism and Self-Reliance!

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
