Gosh, i am so silly here, not reading it all and taking it all in. WHERE was the proposed budget? Can we view it? I have gotten so mired in State and Federal business, i have lost touch with what is going on locally.

I would advise all to contact the President of City Council as well as our Mayor, and each elected council member by district and at large.

I believe it is necessary for us as citizens to make known our disgust and intolerance of this and other such surprises or “underhanded” increases.

If we are to have any impact we must begin immediately after such items are known and make our rejection known at any and all public Government Meetings so there is time and opportunity for our actions to have an effect.

I would suggest starting at the City Council Meeting, Tuesday, August 23, 2011, starting at 5:00 PM in the City Council Chambers in City Hall located downtown at 117 W Duval St.

There is metered parking on surrounding streets which is not charged after 6:00 PM so you Might have to pay fifty cents (2 Quarters required) for the time from 5:00 until 6:00.

There are cheap or free locations available that some of you could better describe. (Debbie, Pat, Connie HELP ME)

There is a time in the City Council Meeting for “Comments from the Public” when you have THREE MINUTES to speak to the City Council.

You must fill out a “Speaker’s Only Request Card”, available at the front of the room, and place it one of the trays located near the podium at the front of the Council Chambers Room.

There will be some of the members of FCTP and CTDC (Concerned Taxpayers) that will be in the area to help you if you need assistance.

If you are able and available to do this then it demonstrates that you are concerned enough to do something about it and proves that “The People” are not as blind or spineless as some people in government believe and count on for their power.

I look forward to seeing you there.

JL.  The total last year for one of our members was $82.95 total.  With the proposed increase it would be $151.80 total.  That's a big increase!  Dan figured it was about 83%.  If it passes, the amount will vary, but it will be an 83% increase for each person.

You can also Email each member of the city council and tell them you do not want this to happen.  The promise was a balanced budget and NO new taxes.  This is clearly new tax.  The email addresses of all the city councilmen are as follows and you can do a cut and paste for an Email with them.  Please understand, this is in no way a done deal.  We have a new city council and many of them will not just sign on the dotted line, but they need to know you support their decision not to support this increase.  Believe me those that would spend the money will speak in favor of it, so you have to speak out as well against it.

Are the fees increasing from Stormwater $82.95 to $90.00? Proposed Solid Waste assessment from $82.95 to $151.80? Where were these fees posted? Were the increased mailed out? Very confusing post.

What were the original fees?  I know there was a discussion with the previous council about this being a blatant increase in taxes when it was first proposed. I missed out that debate. What are the exemptions going to be? Is there a different rate for businesses? Corporations? Elderly? Or income levels?

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
