Eric, I couldn't agree with you more.., especially with regard to vouchers.  If education were in the hands of private schools, that would necessarily compete for higher test scores in order to attract student populations, you would see test scores rise across the board.  And we would have a better educated populace as a result.  We have been steadily losing ground for many years and it is time for all of us to demand change.  I was in Tallahassee on Tuesday for the rally and wish I had already received this information about the outlandish textbook decision by the FLDOE while I was there and visiting legislators' offices.  Thanks for your comment added to my very first blog post.  As a former American Government teacher and later a regional representative/mgr. for a national textbook publisher covering 41 FL counties, you can imagine how I cringed when I first read the article you just responded to.
