Event Description

On September 28th last year, hundreds of Duval citizens gathered in city council chambers and participated in a marathon budget vote lasting into the wee hours of the morning with many of our council members voting to raise your taxes.  It is once again that time of year and on September 27th, city council will undertake this task again; déjà vu.

Let’s make our voices heard again this year.

RSVP and state which location you would like to meet at, or suggest an additional location.

We are working to coordinate both volunteers to drive and those needing a ride.

We have two locations, but can add as needed, so far:

Lowes 12945 Atlantic Blvd. 32225

Walmart  110991 San Jose Blvd. 32223

A request from FCTP member Tony Bates,

For anyone that does not know Tony, he is a champion of the people down at city hall.  We can take a few minutes to oblige his follonwing request.

*******************************

I wrote this last pm but I don't see that I sent. If I sent it is important enough to repeat.

Please write your all Council members something like this.

Please support the work - including the cuts - of the Finance Committee to the 2011-12 Budget. I hope some of you have more cuts to recommend.

You are hearing from those that want you to take our money - Please listen to those that have to pay.

You can copy and past my message if you like. Below are the addresses of all Council. You can copy and paste in the "TO" area of your mail.

Clay@coj.net, WBishop@coj.net, RClark@coj.net, Redman@coj.net, lboyer@coj.net, matts@coj.net, Gaffney@coj.net, EDLee@coj.net, WAJones@coj.net, RBrown@coj.net, Holt@coj.net,  a href="mailto:doylec@coj.net">mailto:doylec@coj.net> doylec@coj.net,  a href="mailto:gulliford@coj.net">mailto:gulliford@coj.net> gulliford@coj.net, jimlove@coj.net, kimdaniels@coj.net,  a href="mailto:JRC@coj.net">mailto:JRC@coj.net> JRC@coj.net, a href="mailto:Joost@coj.net">mailto:Joost@coj.net> Joost@coj.net, ganderson@coj.net, rlumb@coj.net

Encourage all on your -e- mail list to write. The people that want your money are actively lobbying the Councilmembers. They are hearing from them - They need to hear for you -US- and all others you can encourage to write.

Many are planning to attend but also everybody be sure to write and encourage others to write.

Tony Bates

I also belong to the Concerned Taxpayers of Duval County.  We currently have two (2) law suits against the City of Jax; (1) The failure ofopen bidding to be let for Trail Ridge Dump Site and Management and (2) The illegal fashion with which the COJ has been underfunding the pensions of the Police and Firemen (PFPF).  To be basically effective and for your convenience, there should be a site on the COJ/CC page whereby you will be able to download any/all of the agenda for Tuesday night.  That way, you will be able, when first arriving-before sitting, get a "blue speakers card" to fill out and submit to one of the staff to be called upon to speak and tell the CC what you think about which bill is on the agenda for a vote.  If you have time before hand, you will most conveniently fill out a card for EACH of the bills.  I hope this helps y'all.

This presidential race is entertaining, but I contend for those of us that live in this apparently forsaken county of duval, we snap to and be active participants in the politics that factually effect the food we eat, where we live, and the air we breathe; above how the robbing theives steal from us on a regular basis by ping-ponging bills to a fro committees and sub-committees to enhance the old time SHELL GAME!!!

After this city council meeting, a lot of you will be very interested in learning more about the sunshine laws.

Annual Sunshine Law and public records request training seminar at the Times-Union building on 9/30/2011 -- highly recommended for anyone interested in transparency in government

Candidate training sponsored by the League of Women Voters on 10/1/2011, contingent on additional registrations:

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
