What a weekend it was indeed. Arizona become the first state in the country to decide it’s time to enforce immigration laws. People that support common sense were relieved to hear the news. People that think illegal immigrants have rights started screaming racism. Don’t be surprised if the term “white-collar” jobs gets banned soon because someone finds it racist. You just never know these days.

So, about this law that was signed by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer. I think this first part is what gets liberal’s panties all in a wad. It is now officially ILLEGAL to be in the state of Arizona..ILLEGALLY. Why people are upset about this is beyond me. But in the world of liberalism, you must check your common sense at the door in order to enter their twilight zone. Thats the only logical explanation if you’re upset over this part of the legislation.

“But David, now authorities can just walk up to people and force them to show ID proving their citizenship.” True. Governor Brewer has stated that the law will be implemented after 90 days in order for them to hammer out all the kinks. Yes, lawsuits would be raining from the skies mostly from future “harassment” claims. There are some gray areas in the bill that do need to be fixed. But this much we do know. If you are a legal resident in this country, you won’t be arrested and deported. Rest easy on that note.

So what are the good parts? My personal favorite is the bill cracks down on people or companies who hire illegal aliens. This should have been addressed a long time ago. Why do people cross the Mexican border illegally in the first place? Most of them are trying to find work. What incentive would these people have of crossing the border if they know that nobody would be able to hire them? So props on that one. “But David, they are doing jobs that Americans don’t want to do!” Honestly, this argument gets you nowhere so I think it’s time you put that line to rest. According to the Wall Street Journal earlier this month, youth unemployment (under the age of 25) is hovering just over 20%. There are lots of people who need jobs. You want unemployment to drop? Get rid of the illegals who work here, and have them replaced by an American citizen. Harsh? Welcome to reality.

The part that has the other side up in arms is this notion law enforcement will racially profile Hispanics. Well considering almost all illegal immigration traffic on the Mexican/Arizona border is from Latinos, that would make sense. This is how law enforcement works. They are given descriptions of individuals who break a law and then officers attempt to find people who fit that description in order to catch the criminal. If the particular individual is white, black, green, etc, what good would it do for an officer to look for someone of a different race so they won’t be charged with profiling? This is the same type of situation. Law enforcement is out to find criminals. Illegal immigrants are criminals. They gave a middle finger to our immigration laws and must be brought to justice i.e. deported. If you are a legal resident, you have nothing to worry about.

This law has awoken those in Washington. The Community Organizer in Chief is none to happy about this because he wants to put illegals on a path to citizenship. Let’s hope that never happens.
