Urgent Notice for Duval Citizens; sorry for the late notice.

 

 

Elections behind us now the real work begins; together we must hold our elected officials accountable.  Let them not forget that they work for us!

There is no better time to begin, as tonight is the first City Council meeting after the elections in council chambers at 5:30pm.  Make your voice count beyond the election and show a presence tonight in chambers.

5:30PM May 24^th

In addition, tomorrow there is a rules committee hearing on ethics legislation that will remove the power of appointing ethics officials from both the mayor and the city council.  There is no public comment at this meeting, but a strong showing of citizens will let the council know we want this legislation to move forward.  The meeting is at 9:30am in council chambers and we are going to wear red to signify a united voice.

Debbie, not able to make it but i did get a response from one council member, William Bishop:

Mr. Gawlik:  I am familiar with the bills you referenced.  In fact, there will be a special Rules Committee meeting tomorrow morning about them.  I agree they are good bills and believe they will pass.  Thank you for writing.
