TU: Jacksonville Journal: Architectural tour covers lot of ground

Several members of the FCTP, Arlington Group, are also involved with Old Arlington, Inc., and some of us will be working this tour tomorrow.  If you are interested in mid-century modern architecture, this is a tour you will really enjoy.  One of the homes that will be on the tour was destined for the wrecking ball and is now very close to having a complete renovation done by an owner who fell in love with the house and took on the project.  If you don't know a great deal about Arlington, and some of the hidden jewels in our part of town, I hope you will consider coming to this tour.

An architectural tour that begins with a look at some of Arlington's most architecturally interesting homes and ends with a unique piece of downtown Jacksonville automotive history kicks off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 7405 Arlington Expressway.

The tour begins with registration and information at the church, then visitors get a color brochure and maps for self-guided visits of two riverfront houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright protege Robert Broward, one by Taylor Hardwick, a 1956 house designed by William Marshall, and William Morgan's 1967 Hatcher House in Empire Point, inspired by the Villa Shodham in Ahmedabad, India.

The tour continues at the former Ford Model A factory at 1903 East Adams St. in downtown. Designed by Albert Kahn and built in 1924, Model Ts, then Model A cars and trucks were built there before it became a Ford warehouse, and is used for light industrial purposes and trailer storage.

The morning tours cost $10, while the afternoon tour at the former Ford plant is an additional $5. For more information, email info@docomomofl.org.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
