TU: Duval County School Board action

These folks must have come into some money, because they have just created another administrative position to spend it.  Becki Couch appears to be the only sane person on this board and voted against creating this new high priced position!   And why weren't the names of the 5 big spenders listed?  Too bad the children didn't get something out of this, but I guess the union only worries about hiring more union workers to pay more union dues, so they can make big donations to politicians who protect them from actually having to educate our children?  Just a wild guess though.

The Duval County School Board had its monthly meeting Tuesday night. Among  the items considered:

Item: Chief of schools

What it means: The new position would provide leadership,  management and support to district schools in all areas related to curriculum  and instruction. The salary: $108,000-$162,000.

Action: Approved 6-1, Becki Couch against.

Item: Contracts for four charter schools

What it means: Whether to approve contracts for the KIPP  Voice Elementary, Florida High School for Accelerated Learning-Greater  Jacksonville Campus, River City Science Academy Middle/High School and  Integrated Academics and Technologies.

Action: Unanimously approved for all.
