TU: Councilwoman pressures city, chief judge on Duval courthouse savings

Do you feel like you are in some sort outer space configuration?  I thought so.  We just found out the mayor wants to triple the pay for a city job bringing large events to town, but in almost the same breath he will make moving criminals less secure (the reason the court house when where it did is so folks could be moved from the jail to the courthouse in a secure manner otherwise, we could have put it somewhere else).  I hate  that the court house cost what it did and still does, because we built the "palace" we did, but why cut costs by eliminating the primary reason we positioned the courthouse where it is?   Is it just me or does this make little or no sense?  Certainly nice the mayor is poo pooing increased costs, but apparently his viewpoint is dependent on what he thinks is "important"?

Different sides in the courthouse drama are moving closer together.

Jacksonville City Councilwoman Denise Lee excoriated the Mayor’s Office  during a courthouse oversight committee meeting Monday, saying she wanted more  information and urging the chief judge to stand his ground on furniture  purchases.

The committee meeting comes after several members of Mayor Alvin Brown’s  administration met last week with State Attorney Angela Corey and Chief Judge  Don Moran in hopes of ironing out differences.

The city and state attorney, at least, have moved somewhat closer together,  with the city agreeing to look at some sort of connection between Corey’s office and the courthouse.

Corey has long argued that a secure connection is needed, but the  administration removed the elevated walkway in the plans after its price tag  went up.

“We’re going to look to at least one alternative, perhaps a ground walkover,  and as long as it is safe – enclosed – and efficient, we’ll work with the city  on that,” Corey said.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
