TU: Bill banning discrimination based on sexual orientation to be filed at Jacksonville City Council

I think this basically puts in writing (and makes the law) something the city was already doing or should I say not doing (ie discriminating).

..................................................

Bill backed by business groups, former elected officials.

Legislation to ban discrimination against gay or transgender people in  Jacksonville could be introduced at next week's City Council meeting.

The change is being backed by a group of business organizations and former  elected officials who are framing it largely as a tool for promoting business  growth.

The bill would bring Jacksonville into the same posture as other large  Florida cities by formally forbidding discrimination in employment, housing and  public accommodations — places like restaurants and hotels — based on a person's  sexual orientation or sexual identity.

"You shouldn't be able to fire someone because they're gay. You shouldn't be  able to do that in Jacksonville," said former Mayor John Delaney, who has been  active in assembling supporters for the legislation.

Jacksonville already has legislation that bans discrimination based on  factors including race, gender and nationality, and the new measure would add  sexual orientation and identity to that list.

Amanda, I am not running around the internet looking for anything for you.  Good luck though if you can find someone who will.  I have posted tons of articles on this web site which basically have indicated the same thing..................................  Or perhaps you don't remember Bush trying to get a bill regulating the industry prior to the bust because they knew it was coming or Barnie Frank pushing even loser regulations for loans?   If you can't, I can't help that and am certainly not going to pull all the articles up again and repost them!

Because if that is your claim, prove it. Same bet.

Patricia, sincerely, you think the banks were forced to make loans?

Amanda, I think the burden of proof lies with you.  You are the person who is refuting what I said.............so where is the information that backs it up?  And Paul, the whole economy went bust thanks to Barnie Franks and others in congress forcing banks to take bad loans without the usual careful screening which was not really allowed.  The housing bust began things, and although all these liberals in congress would like to blame the banks, it just isn't so and never was.  They damaged our banking system (and hurt others world wide), and then, bailed the banks out while blaming the banks.  They have not tied blame onto the banks rather than accept responsibility and have continued doing exactly the same thing by meddling in banking and loans every since, so we will have another meltdown down the road or maybe you haven't been paying attention to what Obama, Fannie and Freddie are doing for folks..........many of whom should never have had a mortgage to start with since they didn't qualify.  You also must have missed some of the interviews done with people who applied for these "good deals" and were screwed royally by our government and lost their homes anyway!

I don't believe that Obama was involved in the credit default swaps and derivatives market collapse that was the direct cause of the lower standard of living and increased prices in the US during the past four years. You can't skim $700 billion off the top of the US economy and give it to wealthy bankers and expect that will not adversely impact the rest of us. But that was not Obama's decision, and more importantly that type of action is directly contrary to basic free enterprise principles regarding risk and responsibility.

Patricia, here is the deal. You post verifiable proof that income tax has gone up under Obama and I will donate $100 to the charity of your choice. Are you willing to make the same wager???

And you have learned the liberal ways well Amanda.  Twist what everyone says and by all means repeat the same senseless stuff over and over and over until people get really sick of you and what you say.  That is what Obama does..............if it is a lie, he repeats it and repeats it and repeats it until all the mindless drones who follow him can do nothing but repeat the same senseless garbage (like taxes going down, or oil drilling increasing or any of the rest of it).

Amanda, do not twist what I said, which had nothing whatever to do wtih the topic of this blog, to the topic of this blog.............it was not what I was talking about and since Paul repeated what I said, neither was what he said.

No Amanda, taxes have not gone down under Obama.  That is smoke and mirrors and taxes for most have gone up as have food prices, gas prices, the cost of health care, and countless other things.............so please do not think I am stupid enough to buy into the Obama rhetoric, because that is all it is.  And unless you have a mouse in your pocket, never use the word "we" to include me in any of your statements.  I do not agree with you on but 1 or 2 very small things and don't appreciate you putting your words in my mouth too!

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
