TU: ACTION NEEDED? Bill would let parents 'trigger' public schools to private firms

This is something that may well be worth taking some action on as I remember Ms Rhee being called in by Governor Scott.  The bill number is included, and it is still in committee, so you have an opportunity to read the bill and weigh in should you choose to do so.

From the Associated Press:

TALLAHASSEE -- Legislation moving quickly in the Republican-controlled Legislature would let parents "trigger" the turnover of failing public schools to private management.

House Education Committee Chairman Bill Proctor, a St. Augustine Republican, rammed it through his panel without debate just before time ran out on a meeting today.

The bill (HB 1191) is being pushed by an organization founded by former Washington, D.C., public schools chancellor Michelle Rhee, who has advised Gov. Rick Scott.

In Washington, she angered teacher unions and even parent groups with her push to close schools, fire teachers, and get rid of tenure.

The bill is opposed by Democrats and the Florida PTA and other parent groups.

It's now ready for floor action in the House. A similar Senate bill (SB 1718) has one more committee stop.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
