I do not undewrstand why Representative Akin is under attack. What did he say that was Wrong?

If either seniors or the tea party said no to these solutions, a real solution could be had.

Actually all three plans leave me with the bill. The tea party is the only group that could make a difference, yet the silence is deafening.

Still my central question remains.

Then why the delay in implementation?

Roma and Tom, my question does not regard Social Security, though room for debate exists. Specifically my question addresses only Medicare.
What is the moral position, the position that reflects a philosophy of self-determination and a rejection of the welfare state. If every Medicare recipient receives an average of $350,000 more in benefits than paid in, which they do, then we must face this fact honestly. This figure represents welfare no matter how you look at it.
Fine, it is good thing for you but not valuable enough to go forward.
I find it cynical of politicians to assure one age defined group of people a secure future while asking younger citizens to pay for this with no similar provisions afforded. They seek the votes of those 55 and older by offering a safety net if only they are willing to see this net cut from beneath their children and grandchildren.
If we can't afford it, we can't afford for all.

Is it wrong for 55 and older tea party membere to be okay for them keeping their Medicare and saying it is okay for the rest of us to pay the bills but get a fraction of the coverage we will pay for them?
Am I the only one who has this question?

Three options if you ask me.
1. Pay for Medicare. Several ways to this.
2. End Medicare. Unfair to pass these costs onto those who will not benefit.
3. Do what we are doing now. Don't pay for it and cut the benefits to those we are going to make pay for it.
Which is it?

Stop the train then - it is fine with me.   I have prepared for retirement for years, don't need Uncle Sam.

I keep all my assets, everything I have saved and invested, all the property I own, etc.. and the government can refund me all I have paid into the system too..  Stop all the taxes on my wealth.  Stop taxing me to support schools which I don't have children in, stop taxing me to pay for welfare (those too damn lazy to work).  I'd be happy to disconnect the government feeding tube from my life.

Last stop, end of the road everybody off. Last call for alcohol.

So I am supposed to spend my entire working life paying off the bill you left behind and what I am I promised for this communal act of kindness. A chit? a voucher? You leave behind 30 trillion in debt for Medicare alone, not counting the other 16 trillion. Add those two together and you get 46 trillion in debt. Add in 10 more years of babyboomer retirees and it is much more. All you old people are going to have to build a wall around the Villages to protect yourselves from those of us paying your bills for you. Ryan has backed off his original proposal, he is all ready selling out and he hasn't even been to the convention. Don't worry Helen, no politician has the cajones to do the right thing.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
