State of FL: McCollum explains decision not to appeal court decision overturning gay adoption ban

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum today released the following statement on
his decision to not appeal a court decision overturning Florida's ban on gay adoptions. He said it will be the only comment provided by his office on this matter.

"The constitutionality of the Florida law banning adoption by homosexuals
is a divisive matter of great public interest. As such, the final
determination should rest with the Florida Supreme Court, not a lower
appellate court. But after reviewing the merits of independently seeking
Supreme Court review, following the decision of our client the Department
of Children and Families not to appeal the decision of the Third District
Court of Appeal, it is clear that this is not the right case to take to the
Supreme Court for its determination. No doubt someday a more suitable case
will give the Supreme Court the opportunity to uphold the constitutionality
of this law."

Rea Carey, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, responded: “For far too long, senseless discrimination has prevented children in Florida from receiving the stability and permanence they so desperately need. We applaud Florida’s attorney general for doing the right thing and not appealing this ruling. This decision means that more children will be allowed to be part of a loving and permanent home.”

Paul, I think some studies are good and are handled in such a way as to make them viable. I think if someone has an axe to grind either for or against something (as we are finding with global warming), then, there could be a tendency to make things "come out" as we wish them to as a support for whatever stance we want the study to support.

Studies are too much of the time biased. Common Sense says that allowing such only desensitizes the mainstream. Lestened to Neal Boortz the other day when he was on a rent that homosexualality was not a choice. Okay so it may not be. Then he went on saying that the homosexual act was a choice. Duh! Of course the disbelief in God is behind most of this.

I usually try to put a link, and thought I had posted the article and I might have, but FCTP gets a decision on whether they post or not and I leave that to them. I think I may have posted the link and not gotten approved. There is also no mention of the study that proves that a higher percentage of gays and lesbian young people are coming from gay and lesbian households than from a regular normal family household where there is a male father and a female mother. So it does have an impact on the children.

This ruling means children will be even more so exposed to disfunctional families.
