SOCIAL JUSTICE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS; SHOULD YOU CARE?

The Florida Department of Education is rewriting the Florida Principal Leadership Standards.  What are they putting into the new revision?  Teachers now are required to teach social justice in the classroom.  Social justice supports equality and solidarity in a society.

Equality is subjective and is also a tool for manipulating emotions.  If I tell you enough times that the individual that owns a large home on the ocean has exploited all those who do not have the resources to be in the same position, you have been made "less equal."

Anyone that has studied for a midterm knows that not all students put in the same effort.  The results are almost always a proportional ratio of time invested/success on exam.  Social justice in the classroom, officially, is but another chip at the moral fiber of our society.  It will promote mediocrity and further the demise of this great nation that was built on self-reliance, accountability, and integrity.

As a citizen and taxpayer you have a voice and can express your concern on this issue directly to the Florida Department of Education.

ACTION ITEMS:

Google the words "Social Justice" and read the articles and debates occurring regarding this hot topic.

Contact the Governor & Commission of Education and and let them know you are opposed to teaching "Social Justice" just because it is the "politically correct" thing to do.  Teach reading, writing, math, history, science, the arts and teach each child to be a good citizen in the classroom and the community.  That's it - that's all.  To reach the Commission of Education:  http://www.fldoe.org/commissioner/

The more that I hear what the schools are propagating the more Home schooling looks like the answer. The government has NO place raising and imparting to our children their agenda.

What ever happened to the PTA Parents being involved and apart of what their children will and will NOT be taught. How do we arouse these parents to Stand UP against the School Boards and the Government propaganda?

Robert and Patty Parrett, I am no education expert, but I believe that teaching approach is subjective and capturing what a student has learned can be objective.  We need to do what it takes to improve educational results.  I agree that your comments make sense.

We have heard this before but this is right out of the White House.

-Modeling emotional intelligence

-Cultural Competence

-Create school structures

Good work making us aware. Get the word out, contact and voice your objection. The US is 23 of 35 advance nations in Math and Science and we need to teach diversity. My grandfather came from Sicily, he brought the good with him and left the socialism behind.

The concept of the original "public school" was promoted by the FIRST pilgrim colonists in order for people to be able to read their bibles.  This clearly is a violation of the separation of "church and state", and even though it was a hundred years before the Declaration of Independence, public schools should be abolished or set up for muslims to be able to read their koran.  Equality under the law, don't ya know!!!

I agree that DOE needs to go, and that would save $80 Billion. But we still need to demand better public schools. Remember public schools are not paid for by the $80 Billion in federal money, but out of local property tax. We also need to recognize that the NEA is one of the biggest barriers to improved public education.

I agree...the Dept. of Education and Energy need to go...along with many many other "departments" in our government.  More government regulation is NOT the answer (but hey, I'm preaching to the choir here...)

But homeschooled children do not have to have a high school diploma from a public school to go to college. It's a common misconception. I am a homeschool graduate, working on my second college degree...without a public school issued highschool diploma. It is not required by any means.

Home schooled children have to take the FCAT and pass to get a high school diploma from a public school.

My niece "tutors" students privately from elementary english to SAT prep.  I remarked to her yesterday that she is paid "privately" and in most cases the parents' feel the total depreciation of education in public schools.  Two countries I did not encounter in my travels of the world were Russia (I did get into Warsaw pacts) and Australia.  In every other country, there was not a “public school system” as we know it and IF the parents were interested in their children getting an education, they spent the extra money to send them to private schools.  That’s what is evolving here and I commend and support the total end of taxpayer wasted money and efforts to babysit the children of the nightshift crackhos on welfare, in public housing, eating our free food.  The U.S. Department of “Education” should be totally eliminated.  TOTALLY!!!

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
