Smart Meters and JEA:

JEA completed the conversion of both electric and water meters in their service territory to automatic meters approximately 5 years ago.

Dennis, certainly we were not aware they had done it.  Although they have invaded our privacy, they didn't both getting the permissions required to do so.  I will be calling them and asking them about this and how they feel they have a right to do something that any criminal with the proper equipment can find out when you are home and when you are away simply by checking your usage easily from the street now that JEA has their "special" meter on our homes.  I might also ask them about a statement made by one of their employees about them not accepting debit and credit cards as it would mean they would need less offices and less people because it was faster and more efficient.  They will invade our privacy to make their job easier, but they continue to make our service difficult to keep their staffing bloated?
