Great comments, J.L. However, there are many laws on the books that, if enforced and legislators were held accountable, would solve a lot of problems. Examples of laws that are on the books and could be enforced: libel, false statements, coercion, extortion, false swearing, false statements made online, slander. Most of these are a higher level crime if commited online. If they were consistently enforced, the entire moral climate would be changed as there would be an opportunity cost for choosing to be dishonest in both dialogue and actions.
Then, there is Constitutional law, which is the supreme law of the land. But elected members of Congress have become so engrossed in playing political games, that even abuse of office and high crimes and misdemeanors mostly go ignored, while the members are more interested in one-upmanship and winning the next election than preventing unconstitutional actions or removing a criminal President and members of his administration from office.
Obama knows that, for he has gone overboard in pushing the envelope and violating the Constitution, while almost daring anyone to do anything about it. He's gotten away with it for 2 1/2 years, so why worry? Meanwhile, he distracts us and counts on the status quo to remain the status quo, as he consistently furthers his evil agenda. That's his game, and it appears no one has the s____s to do anything about it. More's the pity, because we, and future generations will pay the price for his crimes against the people.
Oh, jeez J.R.
PUUuLEEEEAAAASSsEe... don'T tell me...
iS he using SMOKe n' MiRRORs?
Again?
*G* boy, Americans sure can see clearly what they are voting for this time a round.
What Obama doesn't tell us up front, is that "shared responsibility" and "revenue enhancement" are euphemisms for RAISING TAXES, which he is getting ready to roll out a big new plan to do. Once the revenues have been enhanced, he will "spread" America's increased "wealth" to all those who are willing to spread it back to him for his presidential campaign or loose change to spend on his and his family's serial vacations and Michelle's "upscale shopping."
This speech must have just been to spread the guilt to warm us up to the idea of forking over the last dollar in our bank account so he can fork it over to his allies who live to get him re-elected to finish the job George Soros conscripted him to do---crush this country's economy and take over the government.
He condescendingly proceeds, at the same time he announces for re-election and plans to raise taxes, to denigrate "the rich," with whom he has a mutually-beneficial symbiotic relationship--- a perpetual circle of each scratching the other's back (uh... wallet). Very similar to the symbiotic relationship Obama has with national and international labor unions, particularly the S.E.I.U., Service Employees International Union, who, by the way, provide union services for most security personnel in the State of Florida. Knowing that, I no longer feel very safe.
Pardon my slip in labeling Ron Paul as an Independent, when he is actually a Republican. I knew better and should know better that to write so fast that my fingers get ahead of my mind. I actually like Ron Paul, but he doesn't perform well as a candidate, as we have seen in the past. Rand Paul would, I believe, make a more articulate and dynamic candidate than his father. My preference is to see a solid Tea Party candidate win the nomination.
One last thing, I believe Obama declared for re-election very early as a distraction from all the destructive things he is doing all at once, in order to overwhelm us and keep us off balance and not closely examining his actions that almost never comport with his words. In other words, his conflicting lies are intended to confuse, confound, and mislead. Nothing new there.
What is important is the content of their character, truth, honor, and that they support the founding fathers' principles, values and our U.S. Constitution.
Funny thing, Steve when i encounter a candidate like that, they are very inspiriting, they make you stand up and be proud to be a American. Now why is that?
I voted for McCain and Palin because their content of their character was a LOT better than the opposition, i believed McCain and Palin stood up for honor and truth, our founding fathers' principles, values and our U.S. Constitution.
We knew from looking at Obama's records he thinks the U.S. Constitution is a living document to be changed. He has made the statement that he thinks the Constitution restricts government rights and the right for social justice, to redistribute the wealth. He has said rights are granted by government.
His track record now shows he has clearly broken his oath of office over and over as well as shredding our U.S. Constitution, as well as being disingenuous with the American people with each move, with each promise and speech he makes.
WHY don't we have a law in place that anyone who does not believe in or have knowledge of our U.S. History, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights OR U.S. Constitution, they can not run or be nominated in a government office? WHY don't we have a requirement to be tested on knowledge of all the above? WHY don't we have a law in place IF you break your oath of office, you are immediately taken out of office.
IT has become very clear that people who do not support or have knowledge of, or who break their oath of office are clearly a domestic threat to our government and our U.S. Constitution.
The majority of the Democrats in Congress are not liberals, nor or they like the old Democrats, they are Progressive Liberals and they are pushing our country towards global state socialism and to abandon our U.S. Constitution, period.
Great comment Roma! I agree!
We've got to get rid of this President and all progressive liberals out of Congress. I have never sat through such lies and twisted words. HOW can a person present such a huge deficit budget, year after year, go without a Congressional budget, knowingly then blame the party who was not in control of Congress for lack of budget and then claim he wants to reduce the debt that his party drove up our debt to over $5,000,000,000,000.00 PLUS TRILLION in just under four years?
He is going to give it to Joe Biden? Joe Biden flew out of the country the last time he handed it off to him!
This was just a political launch, lack of clarity speech. Again he is creating division, class warfare. He did not even mention economic growth, or trade policies.
He has greatly bloated the size of government, government can not create jobs, government can not create wealth, it can only spend it. Three months ago it was ok to spend more, now it's not?
Oh, i do not support Hucklebee, for obvious reasons, i heard that his governor records disappeared. Whether that is true or not, i really do not care. He is likable but that is it. I think social and moral issues should be decided at the more local levels like states and cites. Involving the Federal government into moral and religious problems have created this mess of a massive government that we have now.
I am listening to Obama, he is demonizing the wealthy again, His NEW plan after his 3.7 TRILLION dollar budget is shared responsibility, revenue enhancement, he says this has less to do with the budget than it does with changing the social track of America.
He is so full of BS. He wants to boldly act now instead of kicking the can down the road, everyone makes sacrifices and we all share the burden, while we still invest (spend) in our country. We must keep making investments in our economy for job growth.
He just demonized the wealthy and then talked about shared sacrifices?
"To, my party i say, IF we truly believe in a progressive position in our society, we need to prove it."
J.R. I like DeMint also.
I am not ready for the campaign to start, it should not start until at the most just a few months before the conventions. That is another thing the Progressive Liberals have perverted is the length of our Political campaigns. Two and a half years is just too, damn long. I hope people get fed up with hearing Obama talk. I hope he continues to flood the news media with his speeches. They have become very hollow.
Today his Lordship is going to roll out a plan to lower the debt... jeez didn't he ignore the deficit committee that he appointee, their recommendations and dire warnings in Nov 2010? Just like he ignored passing a budget by Sept 2010? Didn't he just recently roll out a 3.7 TRILLION dollar budget for 2012? Raising the debt to 1.7 plus TRILLION for 2012? That is just too, DAMN high!
It's "WE THE PEOPLE" NOT, "You the Government."
Steve, i disagree with more the merrier, we need a clear campaign and clear ideas. This is what the progressive liberals are banking on, mass confusion, blurred campaigns, no clear path. There is NOTHING wrong with vigorous debate in a open, honest and heathy way, it has been missing in Congress for decades and our politics. I would love to see a honest debate about real issues.
At least Jimmy McMillan of NYC is honest and has a very clear message. It just sickens me on the millions, billions of dollars that is going to be spent in 2012. It sickens me on the billions of dollars that is spent on Lobbyists each year and then it takes millions of dollars just to go to court to protect yourself or to call attention to get justice or to have the law upheld. Our country is so wasteful in spending not just with federal dollars. I wonder what the savings would be IF we could see the money spent on repetition of departments, corruption, waste and fraud? Yeah, lets raise taxes so more of the above occurs.
Just think because of this wonderful 110th and 111th Congress in 2013 we will get to pay a extra 3.8% tax on our home sales that goes to support Health Care. What else is hidden in that Health Care Bill? A friend just told me that there are so many new EPA rules that will make it nearly impossible to sell your house and will make you responsible for anything that happens after you sell if for about 10 years, she just heard that over the radio in Montana, all via the 2010 Health Care bill that just like the ---- Pelosi stated "We have to pass it first, in order to see what is actually in the bill..." IF MEMORY serves me right, in the U.S. Constitution it states that Congressional members will clearly debate issues on a bill in a open and healthy way until a bill is perfect before it is voted on in both the house and the senate by a super majority before it becomes law. It is supposed to be a very slow and long process to prevent mistakes...with checks and balances, separation of the three powers in our government... jeez that does not sound what has happened since 2007, does it?
I wrote a letter to my Congressional members, at the time, the U.S. Debt was:
$14,225,608.645,766.00 TRILLION DOLLARS and now it has a label above it at http://www.usdebtclock.org: US PUBLIC DEBT SUBJECT TO LIMIT
When i was finished the US Debt was:
$14,225,372,234,173.00 TRILLION DOLLARS a difference of:
$236,411,593.00 MILLION DOLLARS more US DEBT, in just a matter of minutes... we have a spending problem not a revenue problem, that much is clear.
I wonder what it is now?
J.R. it does sound like Reagan doesn't it? LOL! At least he knew our history and the U.S. Constitution.
Roma, great url but how do you un-change the perverted way that the progressive liberals have in getting the masses to vote in the federal election, they did that on purpose, so the miss informed would vote for their candidate. Look at all the incompetent people that were taken to the polls, they are uncovering more and more voter fraud, it is unconscionable what Americans have done just to make sure their candidate is elected.
Senator Jim DeMint is one of my favorites among the rather large field of presidential candidates to choose from on a number of polls and surveys out there. DeMint is the one who has most helped the Tea Party to grow and be successful, both politically and financially, plus he is not one of the go-along, get-along establishment Republicans who are always making nice instead of stepping up to the plate on major partisan battles. Michelle Bachman has also helped the Tea Party in the House of Representatives, appearances all over the country, and founding the House Tea Party Caucus.
Others in the field of likely candidates are Rep. Ron Paul, an Independent, or his son Sen. Rand Paul who will run if his father doesn't, plus former Rep. Rick Santorum, former governor Mike Huckabee, and former Rep. and now Gov. John Kasic has been mentioned as a possibility and he is doing a great job as governor of Ohio. The field needs to be narrowed down and a candidate selected soon, since Obama has tried to pre-empt all of them with his early kickoff of his campaign and probably gobs of up-front money, especially from George Soros who influenced Obama to run in 2008, when the only experience he had was serving in the Illinois legislature where he most always pushed the yellow button to vote "present"--- and ca. 140 days serving in the U.S. Senate, where he also often voted "present." Soros, immediately upon Obama's throwing his hat in the ring in 2008, donated the maximum amount allowable to Obama's campaign... and then gave millions in "in-kind" donations through financially supporting many websites that campaigned for Obama, like MoveOn.org. The Republicans can't afford to let any grass grow under their feet before declaring and giving it their all.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
