MATT SCHELLENBERG DEFEATS CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT, JACK WEBB! WINS CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 6 SEAT

"Matt Schellenberg ousts Jack Webb in Jacksonville City Council District 6 race"

Special Election

CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 6

17 of 17 precincts reporting

Matt Schellenberg (REP), 8,886 votes, 53.00%

Jack Webb (REP), 7,881 votes, 47.00%

"Challenger Matt Schellenberg stunned Jacksonville -- and even himself a little -- by claiming the District 6 from council president Jack Webb.

"I'm so excited I can't think," he said moments after results showed he had won the district covering Mandarin and Beauclerc.

The business owner attributed the victory to his message resonating with voters' demand for financial discipline and accountability at City Hall.

"They are just appalled by the way the city is spending money [and has] increased taxes and fees," Schellenberg said.

Webb, a fellow Republican, sounded upbeat, explaining his defeat partly to out-of-town money used to distribute negative ads against him. Another part was being part of a city leadership team that had difficult decisions to make in tough economic times.

"Apparently I made some decisions that did not resonate well with voters in light of the Tea Party situation being what it is," said Webb, 48...."

I think that is a great idea Kerry, start gathering physical evidence and put it out there to educate citizens.  I know our media here in Jacksonville won't do the job because they are too busy covering pointless topics.

Can we start getting some documentation and eye witness testimony about the out of towner impact.  Jax was the proving ground of the left's new tactics to counter the Tea Party grassroots and looks like they did well.  We really need a post mortem and collect all the "lessons learned" so that we can prep for the next cycle and share with our compatriots all through the land.  Am I the only one noticing that there has been no real national media spotlight on this win?  When the media does not point out the  "big win", it is likely because the lefties are still quietly perfecting their tactics.  We need to get those down on paper, develop a counter strategy, and get the word out.  It's Paul Revere time!

Kerry, I think F.O.I.A. only applies on the federal level and not to elections.  I posted a link in a comment on another blog post to the Florida Statutes that govern county elections, but am posting it here for you to see what procedures and options we have through the county.  I would like to see an audit done for the voting and the past year of registrations. I was shocked Hogan gave up and conceded so easily.  Alvin Brown would not have. If we can't get an audit of the vote, the laws are on our side for doing a county-wide recall if our research provides enough documentation to support doing so.  Thanks for e-mailing Rick Scott. You're a stand up guy.  Why don't you forward your e-mail to those on your contact list and ask them to do so, too.  I like doing mass e-mails this way, because the message expands exponentially to reach many more people. Just send them to no more than 10 people at a time, so as not to appear to be spamming.  BTW, Rick Scott likes to hear from us voters.  Here are the links:

maybe we can do that under a freedom of information request, if that act applies in Jax.

I just read a tweet on The Florida Independent that said Governor Scott will not sign the elections bill today, and probably won't sign it until Saturday. So, we all have tomorrow and Friday to get our messages to him that we want him to sign it.  Let's give him the encouragement he needs and convince him that we support his signing this bill into law and that it is the right thing to do to improve the security and integrity of our elections. This is an extremely important issue and it is imperative that it become law now so that we will not have the same old flaws in the process in 2012 that make it easy for cheaters to game the system.

Kerry, I have suggested an audit of the cast ballots, as well as an audit of all voter registrations for the year preceding this election, to verify any people who may not be legitimately on the voter registration rolls for any reason.  We know that there were thousands of illegal registrations found among those registered by A.C.O.R.N. in this country in the 2008 election, including dead people, convicted felons, people who were voting in their home state and in another state where they had a second home, and campaign workers who were from out of town or state and set up a temporary address while working on a candidate's campaign... to mention only a few. The audits could be used to clean up the voter registration rolls now, and a system should be set up to update it on a weekly basis.

Another thing we all need to do is contact Governor Rick Scott and convince him to go ahead and sign into law the new elections bill that recently passed in both chambers of the FL State Legislature.  He needs to hear from all of us on signing into law this important bill that will improve safeguards and maintain the integrity of our voter registration and election process. He's getting a lot of flack from the liberal side that he is trying to make it harder for people to vote, which he is not doing and which this bill does not do. Call him, e-mail him, or fax him your message.  Just do it.

We have all heard the there was an unusual amount (over 1000) of "day of election" absentee ballots tendered at the Supervisor of Elections office.  These ballots were mostly from only two districts in the city.  Let's put two and two together and see that these ballots may from voters who cast ballots in their district and then headed to the Elections office to pad the vote for Brown.

I encourage the Supervisor of Elections to find if these are duplicate votes and if so, discount them both, and then prosecute these offenders to the fullest extent.  We must take action to protect our franchise of fair elections.

Write Mike and tell him to keep fighting.  After all 1000 bogus votes being tossed out changes the election outcome.

Oh, and MoveOn, we are on to you.

I didn't mention it along with this blog post, but At-Large City Council candidate, Mr. Robin Lumb, won a seat on the Council, too. We're very proud of and thankful for him, as well. And, we haven't stopped fighting for Mike Hogan. As I mentioned on my blog post last night about Alvin Brown and the Mike Hogan blackout by his unethical yellow journalism nemesis, the Florida Times Union, it ain't over 'til it's over. It's totally premature to throw in the towel and there are other options for pulling the layers of secrecy off of Alvin Brown and fully exposing his questionable record and lack of qualifications.  With any luck at all, we can recall him from office if he wins the Mayor's seat, like the citizens of Miami-Dade County recalled their Mayor from office.

Duval County is a Charter county and, according to Florida Statutes, a charter county can do a recall of public officials even if that option is not in the county's own charter. Further research and documentation may well afford us that opportunity, if Brown wins. We can't give up now and let the national/international progressive political machine turn Jacksonville into Chicago South and a springboard for electing Obama in 2012.

Thank the Lord.  We may not have gotten all the dirty rats gone, but at least we got Webb gone.

After voting to raise property taxes, and the arrogance shown in his race for office, there is finally

justice for his district, anyway.  Matt remember the Tea Party, they got you there.  For the rest of the Tea Party, educate, and keep the faith.  Good job.
