I had a friend who was in the Event Planning business. He helped me plan a big event for the “grand opening” of my consulting practice ten years ago this month. He was a perfectionist and was well known in the event planning world nationwide. He is a master at planning a party.
When the night came for our “grand opening” at a local club, he showed up after the other invitees were already enjoying the party. I greeted him at the door. His first question to me was “Is there love in the room?” I was stunned by the question and asked him what it meant. He replied, “When I plan an event, I want everyone in the room to feel loved.”
As I looked back at the crowd and their happy demeanors, I assured him he had accomplished his goal that night.
After that evening, everywhere I went I thought about that and wondered if I had left “love” behind me when I exited a room.
It is easy to turn a room into a magical night of wonder and beauty with lights, decorations and plants, It’s not as easy to do that as a person because there are just some people who will not like you.
You are too different from them. Your upbringing might be polar opposite of theirs. Your thinking did not match theirs. They saw things from another viewpoint than you. There are many reasons for people to get “cross-wise” with each other. It’s just human nature.
We see it in the politics happening in America. Polar opposites are trying to be in charge of the people. The media and even our President have attempted to paint Occupy people as the same people who are in the Tea Party Movement. The pictures, videos and behaviors tell the world that we are very different. Some of the signs may read the same, but the people holding them are not the same.
The tea party members have used the rule of law to expose corruption. The Occupy members have used intimidation to expose corruption. The tea party members have not used violence while many in the Occupy movement have. The tea party members love our flag, our founding documents and our history. Many in the Occupy movement feel these items are holding us back from “change.”
As mentioned yesterday, I wonder how all this will end. It will end and when it does, America will be different. If the difference is good or bad – time will tell us the end of the story. It may not be in our lifetime but it will be in our children’s and grandchildren’s.
My hope is the ending will be filled with love.
Love for America that has stood the test of time and opened her arms to those fleeing tyranny. Love for our history that will determine our future. Love for our Judeo-Christian faith that was the foundational footing of our Founding documents.
If that is the love that is left behind in America, I will feel we have accomplished our goal. It’s all about the love and no matter how different we are, we can come together on that one – can’t we?
The baby boomers of the Tea Party Movement are hippies from the 60’s and the 70’s. We hung peace signs on our bedroom walls, painted them on our VWs and embroidered them on our hip huggers. We were looking for the love during the Vietnam War and reality hit when our friends came home either in a casket or to a spitting crowd who hated them instead of the leaders who sent them to war.
As I look at the young people camping in parks, I see a few new hippies of today. They are hanging out with some bad guys who are spitting in the faces of those who serve in the military and stomping on the flag that we love. My prayer today is that we will begin to see a rising up of those seeking peace and love for America rising up within the Occupy movement.
We will never forget what happened to our country during our lifetime. We will stand strong against the forces of evil that once again is trying to take us down. As for those young ones who seek peace, we encourage you to rally with us and feel the love of America’s greatness again. Together we can overcome the evil that haunts the halls of our institutions. There is a better way to do this – and violence will not end in peace.
Is there still love in America? I believe so and I believe two very different groups can come together with one common cause. That cause: Loving America and all she stands for. She deserves to be loved back as she loved us.
On November 6, 2011, the First Coast Tea Party will rally together with songs of love for America with our Tea are the World Concert starting at 2:00 PM. Speakers who love America will be there beginning at 4:00. You can find the details at www.fctpcommunity.org.
We encourage all God-fearing, America-loving patriots to show up and stand together for the sake of our country. Prayers from pastors will ring out and we are sure you will hear God Bless America at some point during the day.
In the meantime, take a look at this beautiful video of the Elephant and the Dog. When the human race can’t get it right – leave it to the animal kingdom to figure it out. Which are you…the elephant or the dog?

Yes Tracy you are right that is crossing the line. He says schools but I didn't see if they were talking about elementary, middle, high school or just college. If it is college I don't have a problem as those kids are considered legally adults but the other schools are filled with kids who have parents that are still responsible for them.
One things about the article that was funny is how he talks about the left and money like the left doesn't have untold billions of dollars. I do believe that Obama is shooting for a billion dollars of his own for this election and it looks like he is going to make it. That doesn't even count the 527s, PAC, and other campaign corruption vehicles in modern politics.
He also talks about things for the common good and as soon as someone says those words even if you don't know them they have shown themselves to be collectivist. All you have to find out is which camp they are in weather it be Stalinism, Communism, Fascism, or any of the other combinations that embrace things 'for the greater good' You will never find these people talking about individual rights.
That will never happen. They have thier agenda, more government, less freedom, replacing the capitalistic system with a socialist one.No amount wishful thinking is going to change that.Thier end goal is in opposition to everything we stand for even if we believed the story that they share a common problem with us. Which I think is merely the cover to make the movement palatable to some Americans who have no idea who is really behind the protests. The solution is more important than the problem and I'm not buying what they're selling.
K Street.
I think if there one geological point in the US where the Tea Party and Occupy could and SHOULD meet it would be K Street.
K Street is of course the home, literally and metaphoriacally to the DC lobbyists. From there they pass out checks and hosts parties to buy the services of our elected officials.
Most of those officials go there with the best intentions to serve their district or state in a manner that would make their mothers proud. But along the way they have to seek re-election to keep doing the good works. That is where they begin to lose their way. And it is the monied interests of the K Steet cabal that determine from then on how they vote, their money becomes the represented constituency.
So lets all meet at K Street and run those carpetbaggers straight the hell out of town. I think the legislation from both sides of the aisle would serve all interests of the people.
Here's P.C. in extreme. This cowardly chicken, Steve Eckley, would easily deny a PAYING GROUP to assemble because of "alleged threats of violence". I believe eckley is a liar, that NO threats were given. His hotel has to have reverse I.D. to be able to send police to such a caller. eckley is a liar. He should be personally sued civily for aiding and abetting terrorist activity. On the other hand Geller and her gang could have done this, but they'd prefer the free press. Boycott all Hutton Managed properties, and let them know they had better provide better protection for their moslem guests in the future, when the brown stuff really hits the fan.
The Preserving Freedom Conference, scheduled for Nov. 11 at the top-rated Hutton Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., features Robert Spencer, author and director of Jihad Watch, and Pamela Geller, a WND columnist, editor of the blog Atlas Shrugs and author of the book ”Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance.” WND is a co-sponsor of the conference.
Steve Eckley, senior vice president of hotels for Amerimar Enterprises in Denver – the Hutton Hotel’s managing corporation – told WND it was his decision to cancel the event.
Eckley said he “wasn’t exactly sure what the content of the program was,” but he explained that he canceled it because of the threat of physical harm to people at the hotel.
"when you pick out certain videos and say they don't have a CONSTITUTIONAL right to express themselves this way. This is freedom in action whether you like it or not or whether you agree with it or not."
Mr. Weed,Not sure where you read that Billie said they couldn't do it ,and thats not an isolated video ,I have 8 PAGES of links on my blog so far of videos and info on the occupiers if you care to take a look and educate yourself. Most people here have merely said that the tactics disgusted them and that they would not join In it or advocate for it. I'm not quite sure why you have yet to grasp the fact that even IF we accept the premise they put forth that we in the tea party share the same grievences with them, that doesn't mean we share a common solution. They are advocating for policies in public that are in direct opposition to the things that we stand for .And behind closed doors they are planning and pushing for an entire overthrow of the capitalistic system to install something that will be in thier minds "fair" like socialism or worse.
@ Tracy: Sure I don't want anyone thinking I'm saying we should be in the streets fighting just that it might be needed in the future to save our Republic.
@Mr. Upshaw: I probably didn't need to say that but her position on racial issues really does make her a very ugly person in my eyes. I take that issue very personal and I don't believe that race relations are helped with people like her, Jackson, Sharpton. Race relations will only be helped when we can get over the name calling and talk about the issues and people like the ones I named make that impossible because when you try and talk about the issues you get label racist if you are white or an Uncle Tom if you are black (look at how they treated Bill Cosby). Those people are in the position they are because they continue to divide the country along racial lines and it is something that needs to stop.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
