Hello everyone,
This is an Honor Mission going on in Jacksonville, it's during the week and I know that many are working.  You do not have to be a member of the Patriot Guard Riders to go to any veteran's service, you just show up with a flag or something in red, white and blue.

The family  of Arthur Daniel ‘Art’ Scarborough have invited the Patriot Guard riders to join them in
honoring him at his services to be held on Friday, July 15 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
 
Art was a Jacksonville native and attended the University of Florida. After college he Joined the United
States Air Force in 1954, becoming among the first of the jet fighter pilots. After his Air force tour he was with
the Florida Air National Guard and was with the 125th Fighter/Interceptor Group while they were still based at
the old Imeson Airport, the forerunner of Jacksonville International Airport. This was during the days of the
cold war, and the 125 Fighter/Interceptor Group was tasked with intercepting and identifying suspicious 
aircraft all along the Southeastern coast. During his service, he attained the rank of Captain.
 
After leaving the service of our country in 1965, Art worked as an airline pilot for National Airlines, and
after they merged, with Pan American Airlines. He retired from flying in 1988.
 
During his varied careers in Aviation, he also built a successful farming operation in Putnam County, Florida.
During his younger years he also was a volunteer member of the American Red  Cross Lifesaving Corps at
Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Art was 77 at his passing.
 
This will be a flag line only mission prior to the services. Details will be provided at the Mission Briefing.
 
Services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 3rd St. South, Jacksonville
                        Beach, Florida.

Art Scarborough did not hesitate to serve his country. Now it is our time to stand in Silent Honor and
Respect to him and for his family for his years of service and patriotism.
