*** FLORIDA UPDATE AND ACTION ALERT! *** ALAC SB 58 NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT BEFORE MONDAY’S COMMITTEE HEARING AND VOTE
by Kelly Cook, National Field Director

As you may know, we have two American Laws for American Courts bills now making their way through the Florida Legislature: State Senator Alan Hays’ bill, SB 58, and Representative Larry Metz’s bill, HB 351.
Both of them are common-sense legislative proposals that protect Floridians’ individual constitutional rights from foreign laws or legal doctrines where the application of those laws/doctrines would violate those constitutional rights. No particular foreign law is singled out. The proposals apply to them all.
Brigitte Gabriel and our national staff have made the passage of these bills a top priority for the 2013 legislative session. This is a vital step in the overall protection of the nation. This erosion of Constitutional authority must be stopped.
We are making good progress on this legislation in large part because of your support. Recently, the House Judiciary Committee voted to favorably report HB 351—with only two dissenting votes!
***Action Alert***
We need your help letting members of the Florida Senate Children, Families and Elder Affairs Committee know of the immense support SB 58 enjoys in Florida.
This committee will be hearing the bill this Monday, April 8, at 4 PM!
We’re almost there. We can see the finish line for our Florida effort! Help make sure the bill doesn’t fall short like last year—so agonizingly close to the bill’s passage!
Please call the following senators today and Monday morning and RESPECTFULLY voice your support for SB 58: Application of Foreign Law in Certain Cases.
LIGHT UP THEIR PHONES!
Important Note: If you only have time to make one call, make it to:
Senator Miguel Diaz de la Portilla (R)   (850) 487-5040
(He is possibly “on the fence”)
But please do your best to call the entire committee:
Chair: Senator Eleanor Sobel (D)   (850) 487-5033
Vice Chair: Senator Alan Hays (R)   (Bill Sponsor)
Senator Thad Altman (R)   (850) 487-5016
Senator Oscar Braynon, II (D)   (850) 487-5036
Senator Jeff Clemens (D)   (850) 487-5027
Senator Charles S. "Charlie" Dean, Sr. (R)   (850) 487-5005
Senator Nancy C. Detert (R)   (850) 487-5028
Senator Miguel Diaz de la Portilla (R)   (850) 487-5040
Senator Denise Grimsley (R)   (850) 487-5021
Senator Geraldine F. "Geri" Thompson (D)   (850) 487-5012
As always, thank you for all of your efforts. You ARE making a difference!

REMEMBER, YOUR VOICE COUNTS! IF EACH OF US DOES JUST A LITTLE, TOGETHER WE CAN ACCOMPLISH A LOT!

they are not the same as Catholics. who have not tried to impose their doctrines on other faiths at the cost of lives. you may point to the Crusades if you wish, but every religion that espoused violence at one time or another has undergone transformation through the Enlightenment. except Islam.

if the " rule of Law " is so important to you why is this a problem defending OUR legal system and rights ?

you may claim to be conservative, no mater. I am sure you are for equal rights for women.         try that under Sharia, Amanda.

hope you do not get too much sand in your ears.

Well Patricia we are communicating on the internet, totally built by the government. They built it and then gave it away to us to use. NIH what is their nefarious deeds. Regulations you say. Too many regulations. Without regs corporations would face no recourse to their actions, that would be great. Bhopal comes to mind. When I look around the globe I see countries with governments across the spectrum. Those governments that are willing to place limits that protect its citizens from bad actors seem to be the most appealing. Not nanny state, but one free of rules written by lobbyists who buy their own laws. Look at the Continuing Resolution just passed, Monsanto and the NRA had provisions placed in that bill anonymously that place those orginizations outside the law and above the scrutiny every other American faces. That is what to me, as a conservative, is bad government. I believe in freedom AND the rule of law. They live together in a dynamic tension.

Well, Amanda, if you believe in big government and not small government then, please don't try convincing me you are a conservative, because you are not!  You are a liberal that believes the only one capable of doing anything is government.  I do not feel that way at all, and in fact, believe most of the problems we have are directly related to the government getting in the midst of things choosing winners and losers, giving special favors to special friends and paying for it with the taxpayers money, stealing money while promising to save it for our retirements and then, spending it, subsidizing most of the programs they run unsuccessfully and on and on.  Good luck but I also not not a sheeple, and I am not buying your statements period.  You are a liberal even if you don't recognize it.  And this is my last comment on this blog!

This is the same argument made about Catholics when they started emigrating to the US. Divorce is still legal, we don't have to eat fsh on Friday, we don't worship statues. Why? Because there is a separation of church and state. This is just a waste of time. We have real problems that these guys should be working on that matter.
Patricia as to why, because I am a conservative. But that doesn't mean that I have to be a sheeple. I don't buy the fact that small government cannot be effective at doing their job.

Since you dislike and disagree with very nearly everything you comment on Amanda.  Why waste our time and yours coming here?

This is a non issue. Waste of time. Let's make a law against the sun rising in the west. Against L following C in the alphabet. A law against dogs breeding with cats. A law opposing the free practice of gravity. Hooey.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
