FLORIDA FAMILY POLICY........URGENT JACKSONVILLE ACTION ALERT BILL 2012-296

This is from Florida Family Action Council over in Orlando.  They have been kind enough to put this all together for folks to use and will be at the committee meetings for this bill.  Please feel free to use their templates and information.

.............................................................................

JACKSONVILLE: TAKE ACTION NOW: The City Council in Jacksonville is proposing a very bad ordinance, 2012-296.  The bad bill's language is problematic on a number of levels.

It 1) creates new and special rights for homosexuals,

2) weakens Florida's Marriage Amendment as the union of one man and one woman,

3) removes all references to the U.S. Constitution and (unbelievably) removes all references "civil rights found under the US Constitution",

4) creates legal defenses for Pedophiles,

5) creates more lawsuits and regulations for businesses and

6) violates Religious Freedoms by forcing Christians and other people of faith to do things that violate their conscience and beliefs.

1) Click HERE to instantly e-mail all members of the Jacksonville City Council and tell them to VOTE NO on 296

2) We need as many people as possible to personally attend the City Commission meetings on Mon June 4 at 10:00am and Tues June 5 at 2:00pm. Come and speak to the council or just come and stand with us at City Hall of during one or both of these two critical committee meetings in respectful opposition to the ordinance.  If possible, please come one hour early to visit with us and get a good seat.

3) For more information, FAQ's, talking points, full text of the bad bill and to post this alert on Facebook click HERE:

Jeanne,

If you felt uncomfortable you could have asked for someone else to witness it. The truth is you could have asked way before hand.

Without being witness to this person I can't say which way they really do lean. Lots of female business professionals in Medical areas have to wear unisex clothing everyone wears it in those instances. Scrubs are generally unisex.

It wouldn't have made it difficult for you.

Just ask before hand. I have to ask for female attendants any time I have to go through security, I ask nicely and say I prefer female identified attendants to inspect me.

Also it is very rude to use quotations around a persons pronouns.

Mike,

You are confusing Gender with Intercourse. When anything stats "Gender Expression" it means allowing someone to present in public as the gender  they personally identify.

The fact that you automatically think this means "Dressing like a hooker" or "Dressing in a way that can be sexually explicit or sexually harassing." means you think of women as all being Hookers or dressing Provacativly.

I have no desire to dress in a way that could "Sexually" Confuse you, or distract you, or harass you. I have only one desire, to be able to dress comfortable, and in a way that allows you and others to identify me by the gender I identify as.

I have to wear a bra because of my body shape, I have breasts, I'm not going to hide their presence by binding them or wearing undergarments that restrict them down to my chest, I'm also not going to wear clothing that lets you see them. I'm simply going to wear the same outfits any normal woman would wear. That is what Gender Expression is. Wearing the clothing and appearance of the average member of the gender I identify with.

Because I identify as female that means wearing female attire.

If you keep confusing that with me wanting to wear Hooker clothes and trying to sexually excite you and others, Then you need to reevaluate the way you see women, because that is sick.

Thanks for the information Mike. I think many who supported this issue now realize that this bill is a disaster in the making for our community which already has so many economic issues! Really appreciate you taking the time to get the info.

Just finished some research on emails written to our city council in regard to 2012-296. Before the City Council meeting on Tuesday, the emails were overwhelmingly in support; however, after the meeting, the emails against were approximately 1008 compared to 141 for the proposal. Thanks to all who sent messages to the elected officials

Mike, they are exactly the same here as they are everywhere else.  Government has gone wild.  They have involved themselves in so much that is not their business and passed all these rules to get more money out of people and regulated people right out of business or certainly stopped them dead in their tracks at the thought of growing their business for fear even worse regulation will come down the pike or they will be micro managed by some idiot government weinie (as Bloomberg is doing up in New York).  They all jump on any band wagon the feds or anyone else drops in front of them instead of saying no, we will not do this to the residents of our city.  We have tons of entitlement programs and give away programs and have virtually trained people to expect a free handout for pretty much everything, so they don't even try to take care of themselves any more.  And the residents and taxpayers are taxed and regulated into a hole while more legislation and more give away programs are passed.  We must have a whole group of legislators who have lied about who they are and what they stand for, because they are following Obama right off the same cliff.  He has insulted, harrassed and belittled pretty much every group in this country in lieu of illegal aliens, special interest groups, and those taking advantage of every entitlement program they can enroll in and our fair city is doing exactly the same thing and this bill is insane.  Nothing defined, nothing specified, no real planning and who exactly wrote this and crossed out all references to the constitution and state law and put some garbage about human rights council that has no legal standing in the courts in our state or for that matter any state.  This is a very dangerous bill is right, Mike, but it is more for those that look to make a killing or justify their existance either in the courtroom or on commissions or boards.

One of the glaring pretenses is that this bill is for making Jacksonville a more attractive place for business. Really? When Pam and I moved our small company from California in 2006, we were interested in many things. The last thing we would have been looking for would be a unreal harassment entrapment ordinance. An ordinance without definition of "gender identity and sexual expression". In the late 80's, organizations were overwhelmed with sexual harassment awareness, training, and policies. We learned that sexual expression was dangerous and not appropriate in the workplace. Without a dramatically different reality and definition, sexual expression would present a constant alarm ringing in the head of an HR department. In fact one could see the unintended consequence of not hiring someone for fear of being sued.

And you statement about discrimatory and harrassing is the reason this bill should not be passed.  You clearly have a chip on your shoulder and are looking for a way to fight anyone you think is violating your rights to operate outside the norm.  Unfortunately for the business that will be ham tied by this horrid legislation, they have other employees who may quit who are of more value that someone they might be forced to hire and they might quit.  Then, there is the matter of customers who may not consider the people the owner is being forced to hire as anyone they can deal with due to their moral/religious beliefs and given those 2 real possiblities, the owner of the business could see real damage done to a business he has worked hard to make successful and may lose his business and his ability to make a living to support his family, and you talk like you have a right to bring this down on this business owner................you don't; no one does.   And as far as your friend goes, Jeff, the economy is really bad right now.  There are people who have been out of work for months and months and months who aren't able to take care of their families, put food on the table or pay their bills, so you will understand if I am not feeling overwhelmingly sorry for someone who is unable to get a job, so they can afford a sex change operation.

Like I said in the other thread as well Jeanne.

An employeer has every right to establish a dresscode that all employees must follow. But if you segregate a Transperson into only using the dresscode for the gender they do not identify as anymore, then you are being discriminatory and harassing that person.

Jeff, I posted a response but forgot to mention the blogs.  The office closes at 4.  It is most likely that no one has seen it since the last time they went in to check.  I haven't posted anything new since earlier today, and you may be the only thing in the que right now.  I am sure the commentary will get posted as soon as someone goes in and sees it there.  Otherwise, there isn't any reason the commentary you posted hasn't gone up.  Sometimes Leanne is doing 6 or 7 things at one time, but she is always makes time to update posts!

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
