Education Action: Liberals are at it again in both NY and in Montana

These are 2 very recent liberal attempts to remain 1. politically correct and unpatriotic and 2. to keep all things conservative out of the very liberal school system.  They offer great letter writing opportunities should you wish to engage in this.

NYC Principal Says No to Students Singing 'God Bless the USA'
Elisabeth Meinecke Townhall Magazine Managing Editor
6.10.2012
Depending on who you ask, the song 'God Bless the USA' by Lee Greenwood has been banned from one school's graduation because 1)it would offend other cultures or 2)the lyrics are too adult for the kids.

The New York Post says this:

Greta Hawkins, principal of PS 90, the Edna Cohen School, won’t allow kindergartners to belt out the beloved Lee Greenwood ballad, also known as “Proud to be an American,” at their moving-up ceremony.

Five classes spent months learning the patriotic song, which skyrocketed in popularity after the 9/11 attacks and the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

It was to be the rousing finale of their musical show at the June 20 commencement. The kids, dressed up for their big day, would wave tiny American flags — which, as the lyrics proclaim, “still stand for freedom.”

But Hawkins marched in on a recent rehearsal and ordered a CD playing the anthem to be shut off, staffers said.

She told the teachers to drop the song from the program.

“We don’t want to offend other cultures,” they quoted her as explaining. ...

No, really, it gets better. From the same story:

Department of Education spokeswoman Jessica Scaperotti gave The Post an explanation staffers said they never heard — that Hawkins found the lyrics “too grown up” for 5-year-olds.

The song starts: “If tomorrow all the things were gone, I’d worked for all my life. And I had to start again, with just my children and my wife, I’d thank my lucky stars, to be livin’ here today.”

Scaperotti said the department supports the principal’s decision. “The lyrics are not age-appropriate,” she said.

But Justin Bieber’s flirty song about teen romance, “Baby,” was deemed a fine selection for the show. Hawkins had no problem with 5-year-olds singing lines such as, “Are we an item? Girl, quit playing.

Let's just be honest, here. It seems the only person offended by the song is the principle. I'd hazard the opinion that when other countries sing patriotic songs like "God Save the Queen" and "O, Canada," she counts that as multicultural, not offensive.

School District Confirms ‘Schindler’s List’ Producer Was Disinvited From Speaking to Graduates for Being Conservative
June 9, 2012 at 9:28am by Madeleine MorgensternMadeleine Morgenstern

The superintendent of a Montana school district has confirmed that the Oscar-winning producer of “Schindler’s List” was barred from speaking to a graduating high school class because of his conservative political beliefs.

Gerald Molen — a retired Marine who also produced “Jurassic Park” and “Twister” — told the Hollywood Reporter earlier this week that Tom Stack, principal of Ronan High School, disinvited him from speaking to graduating seniors specifically because he was a “right-wing conservative.”

On Friday, Ronan School District Superintendent Andy Holmund confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter the incident “did, in fact, occur.”

“It is my understanding that the high school principal made the decision based on his point of view,” Holmund said. “It is not the view of the district. That’s not the expectations that the district maintains. That principal will not be serving in this school district for the upcoming school year.”

He said Stack has accepted a position at a different school, though would not say when or why the decision was made. According to the Hollywood Reporter, local residents believe Stack’s leaving is unrelated to the Molen situation.

Holmund described the situation and the sudden nationwide attention on his district as being “on fire.” http://www.theblaze.com/stories/school-district-confirms-schindlers...

Well put KC...............

I wondered if those camps would not have that impact on people, and I had almost forgotten her mentioning of the smell as well..........awful. They were places of total evil or as my NE friend said places of the devil.

Thanks for the info ladies!

The camp I visited was indeed horrific and I had much the same sensation that your friend did.  I could hear the screams and could almost smell it.  What should scare everyone is that the reason that camp was established was to incarcerate Germans who did not agree with and/or spoke out against the Reich.  Think about that.  The SS imprisoned people like us - those who spoke out against the government.  It was later on that the SS added Jews, homosexuals, communists and others to the prison population.

I know this may be a bit of a tangent from the topic of this post, but it happened and not that long ago really.  The reason I thought of it is that I was reading about the indoctrination of kids in our schools and a liberal principal who finds patriotic songs offensive, and I feel the need to speak out against it and the liberal agenda.  At this time, I am not afraid of being hauled off to a camp and I feel fortunate.  But I get home from overseas and am reading about the "Swatting" of conservative bloggers, and how our president is targeting donors to the Romney campaign, how the Tea Parties (like ours) are being harassed by the IRS and other creepy things being perpetrated by this administration and I get concerned.  Everyone should be concerned. But not quiet.

Jeanne, thank you so much.  The mailing address of the school is definitely very helpful for those who will write and save them the trouble of going to the web site.

By all means tell me about it.  Before we moved here, I was going to a JR College in Fall River, Ma. and working wth a lady who had also gone to Germany and visited Auschwitz or tried to.  She was a very sensitive kind older lady, and she said, she was part way into the camp and in her head she could hear people screaming and the further she went the worse it got and the sense of being part of something so horrid, she had to turnback.  She said in the rest of her life, she will never forget how she felt and the screaming she heard.  She said it is a place of the devil!  Many are able to go, but I suspect she had a unique experience perhaps or maybe not but have it she did.

The things going on in our schools are horrible and unforgiveable.  Wellesly (I posted something from there earlier about a graduation speach) is thinking of giving everyone the same grade and doing away with the validictorian, because it makes other people feel bad.............they will soon remove any incentive for these kids to study or learn anything at all.  Why would they if they will all get the same grade even if they don't even try.  And the smarter kids will have no goal to achieve so they will damage them as well.  What can these liberal lunatics be thinking; they have totally destroyed the public, or maybe government would be a better word, schools.

Pat: thank you for providing the information so that I can write a letter to and regarding the principal of the school in NYC who would rather our children pledge allegiance to a Canadian kid with a bad haircut as opposed to singing a wonderful patriotic song by Lee Greenwood because it may offend someone.  I am licking my chops over the opportunity to write a letter regarding that! Unbelievable.

Speaking of unbelievable, be sure to ask my about my visit to a Nazi concentration camp in Germany last week.  The basis for the foundation of this particular camp will really give you pause...

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
