If we thought that the Federal mandates of hiring candidates solely on the basis of race was only at that level, it has now filtered down to State and Local levels. No doubt they received a federal grant to promote this ignorance. No longer hire the brightest and best, let's let 'em die so we can do the quota thing. Some good links in case one needs a reminder of how far down this road we have come.This really is getting old isn't it? Here we go: You can’t make this stuff up. It’s a real-life story out of Phoenix, the capitol of Arizona and the nation’s sixth-largest city. It has more than 1.4 million residents and, among its official mottos is “value and respect” of diversity. This means “more than gender and race,” according to the city’s official website. It also encompasses “uniqueness and individuality” and embracing differences. “We put this belief into action to provide effective services to our diverse community.” To diversify the lifeguard force, Phoenix will spend thousands of dollars to recruit minorities even if they’re not strong swimmers, according to an official quoted in a news report. Blacks, Latinos and Asians who may not necessarily qualify can still get hired, says the city official who adds that “we will work with you in your swimming abilities.” Earlier this year the administration made history by hiring the government’s first “Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity” to mastermind a multi-million-dollar effort that boosts the number of minorities in biomedical research and slashes discrimination in the federal grant process. The effort was initially launched last year after a government-sanctioned study uncovered a “disturbing and disheartening” lack of racial diversity in the field. Before that the administration created a new office help build a “diverse and inclusive workforce” at all federal agencies and Obama appointed a “Diversity Czar” at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to help advance the goal of greater inclusion and diversity in government programs. Who could forget the race and gender employment quotas required at private financial institutions under Obama’s financial reform measure (known as the Dodd-Frank bill) to overhaul Wall Street? James said: “I believe that political correctness can be a form of linguistic fascism, and it sends shivers down the spine of my generation who went to war against fascism.” Of all the things in this world that annoy me—and there are many—political correctness ranks quite near the top. Political correctness falsely dictates what can and cannot be said; it falsely dictates who is in a position of weakness and who is not; and it demands that everyone play by rules that are as strange as they are convoluted. According to cnsnews.com: “The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) wants its white VISTA volunteers who work with low-income, racially diverse public schools to examine the “privilege” their Caucasian race confers on them.” Now, on its face—though slightly comical—it makes sense to understand where you come from, versus where others come from. To have a fully rounded world view, we must understand our differences. Sounds reasonable enough. Well, that’s only the beginning. cnsnews.com also notes that the DPI website encourages white people to: “Wear a white wristband as a reminder about your privilege, and as a personal commitment to explain why you wear the wristband...Set aside sections of the day to critically examine how privilege is working...Find a person of color who is willing to hold you accountable for addressing privilege” What—if I may ask without being politically incorrect–does any of this have to do with volunteer work in public schools? Sure, the schools are apparently racially diverse; but what does constantly reminding white people of their “privilege” do to help? We have become so inundated with political correctness that we are now being asked to have a Minority Buddy to help remind us of our whiteness; we are being asked to wear a wristband to remind us how white we are; and we are being asked to set aside chunks of time to examine our whiteness. What does this do? Nothing. It’s a scam that other white people set up to make themselves feel better, and alleviate their unnecessary guilt. Political correctness, in general, is not for the benefit of minorities, but of the majority. Changing words, and wearing wristbands helps the majority feel as though they are making amends for past wrongs; when in reality, all they are doing is changing words and wearing wristbands. Is this not ridiculous? As a society, we have tried to move beyond our past wrongs, and let them heal. But the politically correct among us would have us tearing off the scabs of the past, and dousing the wounds with lemon juice. It is a slightly subtle form of self-flagellation. The PC monsters want to feel the pain of the past. However, they are unwilling to stop there; they want all of us to feel it with them. The gift of time and understanding allows us all to heal naturally. Constantly opening up our old wounds is masochistic, and stupid. Political correctness is unnecessary, foolish, and ultimately damaging to society. If you feel the need to wear a wristband to help you remember that you’re white, go ahead; but you’re an idiot.
