Death, Taxes & Politics

U.S. Reps. Corrine Brown, D-Jacksonville, and Mario Diaz-Balart are holding a Tallahassee press conference Monday to help roll out the NO on amendments 5 and 6 campaign.

The amendments, which are sponsored by the group Fair District Florida, aim to stop lawmakers from drawing politically gerrymandered districts.

Because the Fair District movement looks to create more uniform districts by using things like municipal boundaries, Brown says it would divide minority districts.

"A lot of people would like us to have nice, square, cute districts. Well, let me tell you a secret: Florida is not a nice, square, cute state," she told the Times-Union in January.

Brown and Diaz-Balart had filed a lawsuit against Amendment 6, which was tossed by the Florida Supreme Court.

It is very important that we put an end to gerrymandered districting which cater to particular intrerest groups. Our current system of wildly shaped districts leads to a hodge podge of wildly crafted laws to favor a chosen few at the expense of the whole. Corrine favors keeping things the way they are so she can keep her comfortable seat, while many of the poor stay poor. If Corrine is for it that's all we really need to know to be against it. Many of Corrine's constituents are poor and left poor by the policies she favors. It is in the best personal interest of many of these self serving politicians to convince thier constituents that they need them to see to it that they get thier handouts, while at the same time seeing to it that they never have the oppotunity to advance, get better income, education, or housing so that they will remain in thier rut of depending on thier benefactors for the crumbs they allow them to have, and convincing them that what they have is all they can ever expect out of life. Yost would serve the constituents in that district far better, by supporting policies that help them up with porspects for a better future. The gerrymandering is designed to keep people like Yost from succeding. It needs to change for the benefit of all, I see Mario Diaz-Balartis helping Corrine in her drive to get these amendments voted down, I understand he is moving over to the district recently vacated by his brother Lincoln Diaz-Balart, which consists primarily of Cuban Immigrants who are heavily Republican. I don't agree with his position that we need to keep private castles for certain races. We need to get past race and look at each other as Americans. The idea of special districts to "spread the wealth to particular groups favored for the current term" is not the way to make life better, It;s not about spreading the wealth, it is about spreading the opportunity for wealth, and that is going to take new ideas from new Reprentatives, and new neighbors looking to help out neighbors.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
