City Council - Where are they?

Well, it's 4:15 on a Friday afternoon, I called my District Councilman, Dick Brown, No answer.

I then called each and everyone of the at-large Councilan, out of all 6 calls, I got 1 answer.

Alison, in Kevin Hyde's office did answer the phone, the rest went to voice mail.

I called to go on record that I was very displeased with the way they "gutted" bills 2011-167,2011-197.

These were the ethics bills that Carla Miller worked so hard to get passed, what the council has done is completely reversed the original intent of these bills, and that was to take the politics out of the selection process for the Board of Ethics, and the appointment of it's director.

I also complained about the Ever Bank deal, $2.7 million to move their office downtown. These banks have more money that GOD, they don't need my money.

Ever Bank has plenty of money to secure the naming rights for the Jaguar stadium.

Most of these councilman are "lame ducks" so they have no interest in pleasing the voters.

It's enough to drive a man to drink, come to thik of it, it has to be 5:00 o'clock somewhere, let's have a cold one.

Hi Tom,

Clay Yarborough got married yesterday at 7 PM but folks were there quite a bit ahead of that dropping wedding gifts off and scoring a good parking place early :).  It was lovely and Jordan was absolutely beautiful.  This is probably the reason most of the council was among the missing as most of them attended the wedding.   I don't think it happens often, but like you I have the same concerns.  Too many things smell to the high heavens and noted Brown saying we really didn't need an ethics commission............what he felt we really needed was a little educating of employees.  Heaven help us if we don't get someone who can stop this train wreck and the insanity going on in our city!   I have heard the word waiver more times this week than I have in the last 2 years and one wonders why their are rules and guidelines if we are not going to follow them.
