He rightly noted that both political parties bear some responsibility for running up the federal debt – so it’s up to both to end this stalemate. Since the President's speech I've heard from thousands and thousands of folks who responded to his call. I also sensed growing support in Congress to avert a first-ever government default early next week. Thus I’m optimistic about quick passage of some $2.7 trillion in savings and spending cuts – cuts that wouldn’t hurt Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security. Here's my letter to Senator Nelson:

Dear Senator,

 You claim to want to hear from constituents, you heard from this one plenty while voting for the, so called, Health Care and Stimulus bills that were passed and became law, both of which are a great part of the economic "crisis" we face today.

 I urge YOU to petition the Senate majority leader to allow debate on the Cut Cap and Balance bill which passed in the house. I also urge you to vote for it. 

 Cut Cap and Balance is the only plan being discussed that will actually save the country's credit rating.

 You ignored your constituents on Obamacare and Stimulus, we were right, Don't make the same mistake again.

I agree with your assessment of Ander in that he is a one tick pony for trying to get a carrier at Mayport but he is woefully absent on leading in any other regard.  I was very upset with him over the food safety bill.

While some say there is no point in contacting some POS like Bill Nelson, I disagree.

The more we contact him and his staff the more he and his staff know he is lying when making statements and the more he knows an ever increasing number of Floridians also know he's lying.

The same goes for Ander Crenshaw. I was unlucky enough to meet him at the republican headquarters on Beach Blvd when I went to see Marco Rubio and Mike Yost. He shook my hand and then when I asked him why he totally ignores every communication I've made with him, he turned and walked away with a red face not missed by anyone in the room. After witnessing this, Marco Rubio made a point of coming over to shake my hand.

Bill Nelson doesn't listen to me--In fact, neither does Ander Crenshaw.

While there's little we can do influence Senator Nelson, we can bring a lot of pressure to bear on Congressman Crenshaw.  I've been calling his office and e-mailing him daily.

It was reported in Politico today that Speaker Boehner directed the Republican members of the House to get their "rear-ends" in line and support his latest plan that raises the debt ceiling and does absolutely nothing to reduce the trillions in debt already outstanding.  I called Congressman Crenshaw's office to respectfully remind him that his "rear-end" is answerable to me, not to the Speaker.

The question remains:  What will we do when Congressman Crenshaw gets his "rear-end" in line and supports the bogus plan advanced by the Speaker?

There is no difference between Bill Nelson and President Obama they do what they want to do I'm sick of sending him emails because he votes for the opposite that you believe in. He's useless.

President Obama continues to wage class warfare against America.  He wants a fair and balanced approach to this issue.  Balance implies that he spend more while we pay more, and fair is a discretionary term that in this case  is defined by the him.  Fair and balanced are not important issues in this debate.   What is important is the financial future of the United States of America.  Whether one is a President or a Senator, there is no glory in bankrupting our country. 

 

I would request that you ask yourself this question.  “If your personal finances were in a similar condition to those we find in the United States today, what would you do?”  It appears to be only logical that you would accept fiscal responsibility and cut spending as necessary to balance your budget.

 

We cannot allow political expediency to interfere with the good of the country.  It is illogical and unpatriotic to continue spending more than we have, while passing this burden on to future generations. 

 

Taxing and raising the debt ceiling will only inspire more spending from our leaders in Washington, so taxing is the last thing I would approve.  The prudent, and in my opinion, American thing to do is move forward and pass the Cut, Cap and Balance Bill in the Senate.  If that be not possible, at least stop spending and find a way to save America’s future. 

 

A politically inspired and symbolic solution is not the answer, and will only hurt the country and will probably result in a house cleaning in Washington over the next few elections.  Any legislator that is truly listening to the people will learn that business as usual is simply no longer acceptable.  America is at a turning point and things will change.  Legislators can choose to be a part of the solution.  If they choose not to, they more than likely have chosen to end their careers.

 

The American people have had enough.
