Dear Friends,

Facebook President Obama asked Americans to contact members of Congress and ask them to reach a fair resolution of the looming government default.

He rightly noted that both political parties bear some responsibility for running up the federal debt – so it’s up to both to end this stalemate. Since the President's speech I've heard from thousands and thousands of folks who responded to his call. I also sensed growing support in Congress to avert a first-ever government default early next week. Thus I’m optimistic about quick passage of some $2.7 trillion in savings and spending cuts – cuts that wouldn’t hurt Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security.

Such a solution strikes me as a fair compromise – and, exactly the kind of thing I think we need right now.

Thanks for your thoughts,

Boehner had best respect the Tea Party or plan for his retirement; which he might be lineing up using our position as HIS PERSONAL bargaining chip.  We need not call Nelson Yet; wait and see what Boehner decides to do with his career.  I advocate the No Raising the debt ceiling, No new taxes or the elimination of IRS tax perques we barely retain.  I would not be surprised to see Hussein cancel Social Security cheques, cancel medicare, approve medicaid, approve section eight, approve AFDC.

I'm sorry, but I do not trust the BBA at this time. I say vote for Cut - Cut & Cut. Then vote O out and then replace Boehner.

Senator Nelson,

There is a political awakening sweeping this country to replace politicians who think more of their reelection than the financial stability of this country .…OUR  CONGRESS IS A DEN OF THIEVES.

ALL CONGRESSIONAL  PENSIONS AND ALL BENEFITS NEED TO BE TAKEN AWAY FROM ALL MEMBERS OF CONGRESS ,PAST AND PRESENT, IMMEDIATELY .

WE THE TAX PAYERS AND YOUR EMPLOYER , DON'T NEED YOUR SERVICES ANYMORE.

CONGRESS HAS  LEAD US INTO THIS FINANCIAL MESS OVER THE YEARS UP TO THIS POINT  AND ALL MEMBER PAST AND PRESENT WHO ARE ALIVE SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE NOW,

FOR INATTENTION TO JOB DUTY AND

FAILURE TO COMPLETE A JOB ASSIGNMENT , [ LIKE PRESENTING AND COMPLETING A BUDGET ON A TIMELY BASIS AND ONE TO KEEP THE COUNTRY AND IT CITIZENS PROTECTED ,]

THAT'S WAS YOUR JOB.]

YOU ALL FAILED.

IT IS TIME TO KICK YOU ALL OUT.

THE CONGRESS HAS MADE THIS CRISIS  WORST THAN A TERRORIST  THREAT TO THIS COUNTRY  FINANCIALLY AND ALL ITS  IT MEMBERS SHOULD BE IMPRISONED.

WE WILL PUT  ALL  CONGRESSMEN  PUT ON MILITARY PAY TO SERVE THE COUNTRY ON TERM LIMITS.THEN THEY WILL BE TOLD  LEAVE AFTER THEIR TERM.

Senator Nelson,

I shall not waste my time advising you on what actions/votes to take to save America from financial ruin.  There is a political awakening sweeping this country to replace politicians who think more of their reelection than what is best for the country.  I shall use my time working tirelessly to remove you from the Senate.  You are on political life support and I think you know it.

@Larry,

I believe we are all Americans first and that anyone who holds to the principles of the constitution, regardless of party, is a patriot in my book.  In addition, you are correct with citing the democrat party was almost libertarian at one point, but unfortunately there is an ideology that has infected it now for almost 100 years.  You are not wrong Larry.

Ron Paul on Cut,Cap and balance:

Mr. Speaker, I rise to speak against HR 2560, the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act. This bill only serves to sanction the status quo by putting forth a $1 trillion budget deficit and authorizing a $2.4 trillion increase in the debt limit.

When I say this bill sanctions the status quo, I mean it quite literally.

First, it purports to eventually balance the budget without cutting military spending, Social Security, or Medicare. This is impossible. These three budget items already cost nearly $1 trillion apiece annually. This means we can cut every other area of federal spending to zero and still have a $3 trillion budget. Since annual federal tax revenues almost certainly will not exceed $2.5 trillion for several years, this Act cannot balance the budget under any plausible scenario.

Second, it further entrenches the ludicrous beltway concept of discretionary vs. nondiscretionary spending. America faces a fiscal crisis, and we must seize the opportunity once and for all to slay Washington's sacred cows-- including defense contractors and entitlements. All spending must be deemed discretionary and reexamined by Congress each year. To allow otherwise is pure cowardice.

Third, the Act applies the nonsensical narrative about a "Global War on Terror" to justify exceptions to its spending caps. Since this war is undeclared, has no definite enemies, no clear objectives, and no metric to determine victory, it is by definition endless. Congress will never balance the budget until we reject the concept of endless wars.
