Airline Scanners and the TSA Pat down

There is a lot of talk on the news about the new TSA procedures. Even some of the conservatives are siding with the liberal media on this. Many are worried about offending certain groups others don't want thier grandmother or daughter fondled. A friend of mine said he didn't mind going through the scanner or getting his "Junk touched" but if they tried that with his 11 year old daughter they would be "removing thier teeth from his boot. While I unerstand his frustration I also understand the need for EXTREME SECURITY MEASURES.

Here was my response to his comment and my personal opinion.

When a Terrorist plants a bomb IN (Yes I said IN) an 11 year old girl and a couple hundred people die because you didn't want your daughter patted down or her to walk through a scanner, you will change your mind on what is appropriate and what isn't.

The Viet Cong used childred as suicide bombers, Iraqis use Women as suicide bombers, and they Circumcise 11 year old girls. What makes you think they wouldn't use one as a suicide bomber? Or even better a kidnapped white girl because no one would do that!

These people don't care about anything but furthering thier agenda no matter if it is Sharia law, Islamic Extremism or White supremacy.

Remember also that not all terrorists are "brown people" Tim McVeigh was white. The DC sniper was African American. Not only that, but more and more African Americans are converting to Islam for some strange reason. It just so happens that MOST terrorist attacks are committed by Islamic exremists. NOT ALL!

The DOD defines Terrorism as..The calculated use of unlawful violence or threat of unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological.

Political, religious, or ideological. There are a lot of Religions, ideas, and politics these days.

For what its worth here is my personal opinion.....

Airlines are a business NOT a public service. And flying on one is a choice YOU MAKE. If you choose to fly, you can either go through the scanner or get a pat down YOUR CHOICE. The Terrorists have done this to us. We need to take these measures so that we and our families can be safe from these friggin nut jobs trying to kill us!

You have other choices. Drive yourself, take a bus, or take a train. All of those except your car also have security measures in place and all have been tools used in terrorist attacks as well.

I think they should put a disclaimer on the airline ticket that says.... "By purchasing this ticket you give up your right to privacy and consent to search at anytime while on any FAA regulated property or vehicle".

I know I would feel a lot safer getting on a plane if that were the case. I would be willing to bet that the family members of all those that died on 911 wish the TSA had done a scan and pat down early that moring on everyone getting on the plane! Including the 80 year old Nun and the 11 year old girl!

James, you've made me think of screening in a new way. I travel a lot for work, so I've been through the full body scanner b/c I didn't think I could handle the pat down. But, you've made a lot of good points. And here is the other thing -- my guess is that 99% of the TSA workers didn't sign up for this either. It's one thing to stand at the end of the scanner; it's quite another to have your blue-gloved hands all over some stranger.
