We need to stay on top of this.  This IS a tax increase and a large one at that on everyone including those out of work and struggling to make ends meet.  This is an absolute travesty and is being done in such an underhanded, sneaky way, the city council and the new mayor should be VERY ashamed!

really, really... did anyone actually believe the "no new taxes" pledge???  Who is really at fault?  I know we tried but did we try hard enough to keep a typical Dem out of office?  If not this tax, another one will be right behind it.  Be wary of the deals brewing not the one on the table, at least we can see this one.  The next one can be slipped right in without notice.  Time to dust off the "Don't tread on me" flags.

By the time it gets to city council it is a done deal and the council  could care less what your wishes are.to paraphrase  that great well spoken American --maxine h2o  the city council and the mayor can go stright to hell --the sooner the better.

Well Well we have a Progressive as Mayor. I remember writing and posting on Facebook all over the local news pages Call Alvin Brown what He is a Progressive who will raise taxes, raise city fees, add more city fees, unemployment will rise and more businesses and people will leave Jacksonville.
