Times 24/7: Bishops call for 'aggressive attack' on Obama policies

This really is an important issue, and Obama can't be allowed to toss the first amendment rights of any religious group.  I am glad to see the church take a huge stand on this!  Your feelings?

Roman Catholic leaders are calling for two weeks of public protests against  President Barack Obama's policies as they intensify their argument that the  administration is engaged in a war on religion.
Two weeks of protests,  from July 21 to July 4 have been called by the U.S. Conference of Catholic  Bishops which has sought to end the administrations's contraception mandate,  among other policies.

That is not what this is about Tamara.  I understand this pres likes to take the conversation away from the real issues, but freedom of religion is on the block right now, and I don't want to talk about something else (and won't)

Amanda, please check the right to work law.  YOU are wrong.  You do not need to supply a reason.  You do not even need to give a reason anymore than I would have to give a reason if I left for lunch and said I would not be back!

Maybe there should be a counter-protest, protesting the Vatican's continued denial/sheltering/cover up of pedophile priests.

You do not need a reason to fire anyone in the first 90 days, afterwards they have recourse for wrongful termination. That is the law.

Patricia, Right to Work does not give an employer the right to fire someone without cause. My argument is that the Catholic church is losing its members because of these dogmas that they simply made up.

Amanda, this is a right to work state.  You can be fired without reason at all and you can quit on your way out to lunch without giving a reason as well.  You need to get real.  The federal government chose to get into all this mess because they wanted control over people's lives.  The Catholic church isn't doing any differently than hundreds of other organizations and medicare, the last time I checked, has a premium the government confiscates from you pay check meaning you do pay premiums for the forced government coverage.  I would darn rather go to a church hospital than one that was not.  One would expect them to at least be humane something which will pass as long as we have this monster in the white house.  He is reprehensible except unless of course you have the right skin color or are part of some group he is courting for votes (then at least he will give you the moon until he has gotten your vote).

Patricia, do you honestly believe that your employer should be able to fire you for using widely accepted practices to get pregnant?
Imagine if a woman here was beaten for going to school by her Imam? We would demand justice. How is this different? We aren't in the middle ages. Catholics in Africa suffer higher rates of HIV because they are forbidden to use condoms by their priests.
Enough of the Catholic taliban.

Churches take in billions every year tax free. They use hospitals to take in even more money from medicare. Their colleges take billions in federal education grants. They place their churches on land which is tax free. They are free to fire good employees because that employee wants to get pregnant using available means. They can say whatever they like.
I call bullsh*t.

They don't like the system, stop taking federal money. Their priests and nuns accept medicare and medicaid. Stop taking these monies that come from sinful origins. The Vatican and USCCB need to get real. Would the last woman leaving the Catholic church please turn out the lights.

There outrage and rallying to stop the attack on their religious first amendment rights is tending their flock.  I read the article about the teacher (and apparently she signed an agreement that stipulated what was acceptable and fell within the acceptable guidelines.........I don't quite understand it, but not my business and not sure I have enough info in the article I read (and it may be the same one you saw Amanda) to take a side one way or another nor is it my business).  Nuns were at the last protest of the mandate, and so were priests, and all the other things you mention are what the catholic church, nuns and priests do which is equally important.

Catholic school in Indiana fired a teacher who had been there seven years because she was trying to get pregnant using in vitro fertilization. Vatican attacks US nuns for not spending more time attacking abortion and gay marriage, rather spending all of their time educating, healing, feeding.
Maybe they should just tend to their flock.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
