        Lets refresh our memories-Some time back Duval county agreed to share any monies we might receive from the naming of our stadium 50 %-50 % with weaver-- who lives in a $10,000,000.00 mansion -Then we

 were told that while no deal was in the works we really need to show our appreciation to Weaver-who lives

 in a $10,000,000.00 mansion__by giving him 75 %.Then we are told that Shazam a deal was being struck 

 with Everready  for $16,000,000.00 to put thier name on our stadium-which seemed a little high (-twice as 

 much as Alltel paid when we had a winning team_) fora team that is a perennial loser.What civic pride-

 Then at the time that our real estate taxes were being raised 9 %--Beaches 25 %__we were told we had to 

 give every last penny of the $16,000,000.00 to weaver--who lives in a 10,000,000.00 mansion--because 

  the jags were the only thing that makes Jax a city to be proud of, Without them we were doomed to 

   become a third rate banana republic.A city with an NFL team is first rate --you know like Detroit-

     Cleaveland Oakland L A  any one of which  you would be proud to raise your family in.

 

     Then months go by and Eveready Bank wants to vacate its present site and move downtown.Sounds great

 except maybe for the employees and oh yeah the tax payers will have to pay a couple or $4,000,000.00

 for moving trucks and boxes and oh yeah how about a free multi story parking garage at no cost to

 Eveready or its employes Estimated BUILDING COSTS maybe $2-3-4 million( which in politician talk

 means $7,000,000.00-- SEE  COURTHOUSE Original  COST tops $162,000,000.00 TURNED OUT TO BE

 $500,000,000.00 AND STILL COUNTING. Was the high price of the naming rights  tied to the multi

 million dollar gift to Eveready for its move. Seems odd. Is there more to come ? I betcha there is.

What is more sad, Robert, is the majority of the citizens of Duval county are absolutely clueless to what really is going on. Can you iMAGiNe how great our city would be without ALL the wasteful spending?
