The Florida Department of Education is rewriting the Florida Principal Leadership Standards. What are they putting into the new revision? Teachers now are required to teach social justice in the classroom. Social justice supports equality and solidarity in a society.
Equality is subjective and is also a tool for manipulating emotions. If I tell you enough times that the individual that owns a large home on the ocean has exploited all those who do not have the resources to be in the same position, you have been made "less equal."
Anyone that has studied for a midterm knows that not all students put in the same effort. The results are almost always a proportional ratio of time invested/success on exam. Social justice in the classroom, officially, is but another chip at the moral fiber of our society. It will promote mediocrity and further the demise of this great nation that was built on self-reliance, accountability, and integrity.
As a citizen and taxpayer you have a voice and can express your concern on this issue directly to the Florida Department of Education.
ACTION ITEMS:
Google the words "Social Justice" and read the articles and debates occurring regarding this hot topic.
Here is the link to the web page where you can find links to comment regarding the Revisions to the educational materials.

Contact the Governor & Commission of Education and and let them know you are opposed to teaching "Social Justice" just because it is the "politically correct" thing to do. Teach reading, writing, math, history, science, the arts and teach each child to be a good citizen in the classroom and the community. That's it - that's all. Out of wild curiosity, what's next Sharia Law and Muslim culture?
It is no wonder why so many people suggest doing away wih the Dept of Education. Some nerd sits around and thinks up some new "ism" or "Fill in the blank new BS program) We all here agree that each of us is an individual and should be encouraged to be the very best INDIVIDUAL that we can. The US Constitution only promises "the pursuit" of happiness, not the achievement of it. We all struggle to be our best in a world of pretty good people in science, arts, inventions, etc. ALL achieved because an individual struggled with her/his idea/talent to do something special. That seed was planted in K-12 schools by real teachers. Let them do their jobs.... PLEASE!
Billie,
Ms. Kelly-Scott's letter is wonderful. Good for her!
Totally inappropriate subject matter for the school system. Parents still have the responsibility of teaching their children something like this if they are of this mind set. It should not be taught in the school system like it was a "subject". It is small wonder children aren't learning any useable skills............they don't have time since the children are all in training to be good little socialists!
Here's an example of a great letter written to the Commissioner of Education and the Governor...
Subject: Fw: Check out "SOCIAL JUSTICE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS; SHOULD YOU CARE?" on First Coast Tea Party
just sent to commissioner & governor.....
Dear sir,
As a parent of three and secondary teacher for over 6 years, I am strongly opposed to the teaching of a curriculum based on the "politically correct," one size fits all approach, "Social Justice." Our society was founded and is based on the Liberty, skills, creativeness, strengths and pursuit of the personal goals and achievement desired by each INDIVIDUAL citizen. NOT every students has the same level of skills, work ethic and I.Q, nor the same desire to achieve. It's the teacher's job to nurture the individuality of each student, encourage goal setting, personal achievement and the feeling of personal pride that comes from hard work and achievement. Not every student will get an "A," but every student can be challenged to do their best, planting the seeds that teaches them skills and rewards of of becoming productive adult citizens. The striving and accomplishment of the top achievers will help raise the bar for other students to work harder, aim higher and earn their successes. To wrap curriculum around the socialist ideology of "social justice" strips students of their uniqueness, individual talents, dreams and goals, and promotes complacency, a "why bother" attitude. Teachers should promote strengths of the individual, achievement earned through hard work, honesty & integrity, pursuing career goals through the Free Market instead of relying on government to supply all their needs, reaching their full potential based on their own unique capabilities...NOT mediocrity by aiming for 'the same' as everyone else.

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
