SOCIAL JUSTICE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS; SHOULD YOU CARE?

The Florida Department of Education is rewriting the Florida Principal Leadership Standards.  What are they putting into the new revision?  Teachers now are required to teach social justice in the classroom.  Social justice supports equality and solidarity in a society.

Equality is subjective and is also a tool for manipulating emotions.  If I tell you enough times that the individual that owns a large home on the ocean has exploited all those who do not have the resources to be in the same position, you have been made "less equal."

Anyone that has studied for a midterm knows that not all students put in the same effort.  The results are almost always a proportional ratio of time invested/success on exam.  Social justice in the classroom, officially, is but another chip at the moral fiber of our society.  It will promote mediocrity and further the demise of this great nation that was built on self-reliance, accountability, and integrity.

As a citizen and taxpayer you have a voice and can express your concern on this issue directly to the Florida Department of Education.

Contact the Governor & Commission of Education and and let them know you are opposed to teaching "Social Justice" just because it is the "politically correct" thing to do.  Teach reading, writing, math, history, science, the arts and teach each child to be a good citizen in the classroom and the community.  That's it - that's all.  To reach the Commission of Education:  http://www.fldoe.org/commissioner/

People like Virginia who home school are to be applauded. However, 90% of American children are educated in public schools paid for by taxpayers. We have a right and a duty to demand that public schools be held to high educational standards. Our schools are failing us. According to the Department of Education 88% of high school seniors are non-proficient in civics and history. According to McKinsey, American students rank 25th of all developed nations in math and English. Instead, we have a public school system operated for the benefit of unions, the secular left and a non accountable bureaucracy.

There's still one option that no one is discussing here: how about educating our children at home, our of the reach of the government?  Homeschooling is perfectly legal. My husband and I make many sacrifices, we don't try to "keep up with the Jones", live in a modest little house, drive older cars, and do without so that our children are able to be educated at home w/o interference of curriculum or government oversight.  Homeschooling in Florida is very easy. So, while fighting these things on a state level, maybe more people should take charge of their children's education until things change for the better.

No denying it. Straight out ..Social justice term used instead of Communism to fetch acceptability .The

opposite of Capitalism is Social Justice. Liberals hate competition. Everybody gets a Trophy. PC substitutes for exceptionalism. How did this wussie bunch gain such fast traction?

Debbie is right. "Social justice" is not about justice for all or fairness under the law. Social Justice is a Marxist code word for redistribution of wealth. It is based on the Marxist concept that free market capitalism is corrupt and evil. It is based on the concept that an all-powerful government is the true owner of wealth held in trust for the people. See the magazine about schools and curriculum reform:

This is crap! We are ALL Americans, not different species of man. Who the heck thought this one up and put in the curriculum? Where is Rick Scott in all of this? Thank G-d my kids are all grown.

Just a note...The final bullet point under Diversity speaks of "promoting and maintaining a multicultural school environment". I would like to see that fully defined because I believe that the only culture that should be promoted and maintained in our schools is the "American Culture".

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
